SBS News Report on Kim Jong-chol, NK's possible heir-apparent

Saturday night (24th), SBS Evening News, quoting a Japanese source, reported that Kim Jong-chol, second son of NK leader, Kim Jong-il, has been named to the same deputy director post within the Organization and Guidance Department (OGD) which his father held when he was made heir to his father, Kim Il-sung.

The short segment reported Kim Jong-chol now appears to in the best position of any of Kim Jong-il's children to take over for him given the importance of the younger Kim's new post.

Gist translation of a 24 NOV 07 Korean article on Kim Jong-chol from the Maeil Kyongjae news website -

"Kim Jong-chol, may have been picked as successor"

Japan's Mainichi newspaper reported that Kim Jong-il's second son, Kim Jong, chol has been selected as the deputy director of the Organization and Guidance Department, one of the top jobs in the NK.
The paper also reported that Kim Jong-chol is working in his father's office at Korean Worker's Party Headquarters, putting him in a position to receive instructions on a regular basis from Kim Jong-il.
According to Mainichi, Kim Jong-il was the same age as Kim Jong-chol is now when the older Kim was selected to fill the same OGD post back in 1969, which presents the possibility that when Kim Jong-il turns 70 in 5 years he could name his son as his successor. /End Article/

Similar reporting has appeared before but this time the reporting appears to be getting a bit more traction - Kim Jong-chol's position has been greatly enhanced if the above reporting is true.
