New Construction
I was up in 2ID land recently and noticed there is still plenty of construction going on. At Camp Red Cloud there is an addition being built onto the commissary, and a 3-4 story building is under construction where the MWR Recreation building was located.
My question: Why in the world is all this construction still taking place on a camp that is soon to be returned to the ROKs? The standard response is: The money has already been budgeted and the contracts for the construction were signed before the decision was made to give back the land to the ROKs. In my mind, this is nothing more than waste and abuse (I left out fraud... maybe that should go in there as well). Speaking of which - who did all this contracting? The O-6 who got busted a few years back for taking bribes? I've got a great idea - let's break the contracts. If the Korean construction companies don't like it - pay them a penalty - 10-20% of what they would have made. And then use the other 80-90% on things like construction at other bases - those that are not being given back to the ROKs. Give those contracts to the companies who lost out on the canceled contracts. It would be a win-win situation. |

I read that there would be a reduction to -what was it -10 installations?
Has anyone seen which 10? Print here what you have seen? There should be folks looking at just what you mentioned! Anyone know an answer? |

Even thought the video says 10 installations, their map only shows 7.
