U.S. Warns Korea, let us train or Air Force will leave

This is not a new story, but has resurfaced in the Chosun Ilbo. The U.S. has a simple message, if we can't keep proficiant, then we will leave. This is in response the the ROK government placing further restrictions on the use on bombing ranges in South Korea.

When will Korea understand, if you can't train like you fight you become a lesser air force?

It looks like a bluff to me, but if I were the ROK government I wouldn't test Mr. Rumsfeld.

Quote:
Washington warned Seoul in October that the U.S. Air Force will move elsewhere unless Korea guarantees air-to-surface training ranges, it belatedly emerged Monday. The warning came in the 37th Security Consultative Meeting between the two countries.

Documents concerning a training facility off the coast near the U.S. Forces Korea’s Kunsan Base show that the U.S. warned it could move its entire Air Force contingent off the peninsula if Korea is unwilling to guarantee adequate training facilities for its pilots. The meeting headed by the two countries’ defense chiefs came after the August closure of a range in Maehyang-ri that had been devastated by decades of bombing and fighter practice. Washington insisted on an alternative facility lest pilots are unable to practice their skills.
Thirty seven meetings? Ok, pick a damn piece of land already! This is not rocket science. North and South Korea are still technically at war and national security should take priority over some Korean lobbyists!
