Thank you chucksnee for your support. The DOD has some line budget item that includes awards. Cost from the DOD point wouldn't be a problem nor should it be for the ROK. Someone is probably working on something for Germany. Bsonia and Kosovo has one too.
Talk of a cold war medal or something to that nature. Why we need something like this is beyond me since we still have China and NK has world players and now Iran. The reason I know of this is someone wanted me to sign a petition for this. I refused because the problem may have been trivalized now since the collapse of the former SU. The same party members now call themselves Christian or Social Democrats. Anyway cost wouldn't be the issue. More medals. I don't want sound like an antique soldier here, but in my day unless you were in 'Nam the chances or serving in Berlin, you at best would only have an ARCOM and a GCM. AA came out later and then that Grenada thing. Overseas and some service ribbon followed. If you were put in for an ARCOM, 90% of the time you'd get a certificate. WE could argue, but you've seen it abused at one end of the spectrum and I've seen it at the other end. I can see your point. In mind, Korea would be the best and most likely place for 1 USA, 1 ROK, and 1 UN award. It is the longest running UN mission to date, we do most of the work for the UN and so forth. I never just did my job while in counrty and especially in the FRD. But I was certainly glad once the nonsense wa over to just do my job. No I don't want a medal from Germany, I got my promotion and PCS'd out of there. Speaking of the 'give away' awards. How many know of current SM who have the Cold War Certificate?
