Are there anyone here in Area 4? I will be arrving in June with the wife and daughter..I have to get n exception to policy letter from the area commander for E-6 and below to authorize me to ship my vehicle. It is pertinant (sp) that i have a car there due to my daughter needs to get to school, i need transportation to and frm work...you guys get the hint...I think it is feasable due to the fact they approved my CS...im hoping for the best

I know you love your car, but I sure would never have shipped one if I had known I could get a good one here for $1000! And a small car is better with gas at $3 or more, and parking areas are small, etc. I personally would not have a car in Seoul. But you will do it your way, so go for it. I'm glad you got your wish to come back CS! I remember my second return! It was great! On my 3rd tour our daughter went to kindergarten on Camp Red Cloud! 1975!

If they approved your CS already then you ae authorized to ship a car. It should state that in your new orders......If not then they are messed up, have them redone..

E-6, to have a car is only an exception to policy when you are NCS and already here.

Thats great!!!...Now I have to contact korea AGAIN and have them ameded AGAIN..what a pain in the 3rd point of contact ..im clearing now and i have to do this AGAIN. I hope they get these to me quick, fast and in a hurry...SOUP SANDWICH


Correction: on my orders that say they have a 3 bedroom at Camp george near camp walker, carroll etc... they state i need an excpetion to policy through the area commander..this is messing with my head

Well the first thing I would do is check out Area 4's website.

If you have orders there, then that would be a great place to start. Maybe you can get ahold of someone there and get your questions answered.

You may want to go ahead and make reservations at the dragon (google dragon hill lodge). So you can have a room waiting when you get here. You'll spend a few nights there to inprocess.

Also if you can, I would not bother bringing a car and just buy a $1000 car when you get here. I bought a $1000 car and I have driven it almost everywhere. When you go just tell the car guy you will have your family here and have a young child and want to be safe.

They will try to sell you a more expensive car but around $1000 you can get a very nice car.
