Can someone tell me how to call a DSN line here from a regular home phone in the US?

Unless you have a control number, it is not possible. You would have to get a control number that is good at a base near you, and then call the base operator who would then place the call for you.

No, I need to be able to call the DSN line from the US. I know someone who wants to order a birthday cake for her husband at the Baskin Robbins on base but she doesn't know how to call a DSN line from her house.

At Osan it is the country code, 011 82 31 661 XXXX. 82 is the country code, I think 31 is like the regional code or something. That is if you have a DSN that starts with 784-XXXX.

Hey we're at humphreys and call on post all the time from our vonage line. it's 011-82-505-xxx-xxxx. hope that helps

Air Force Airman and Family Readiness Centers have a program called Heartlink that allows you to sign up for a certain number of morale calls each month. Once you sign up, they provide your name to the base operator and you simply call them and state that you need to make a Heartlink call. They will ask you for the DSN number and you are on your way. The caveat is that it is usually two 15 minute phone calls per month...but it is DSN from your home phone...

OK- I read it that someone in the US wants to call a DSN # from her home to a base?
She can call the base operator commercially and ask to be connected to the Baskin-Robbins #.

(Baskin Robbins cannot have a DSN#. they have a commercial #: even on base.)
DSN numbers are for official use only. Not for businesses.
The numbers you use locally are not DSN. They are locally assigned numbers.

The 0505 will only work to call Army installations in Korea.

From a vonage line it costs $0.09 per minute, that's w/out the international plan. You can around 3 dollars a month to have an international plan added to your account. We thought that the normal rate was pretty good though, so we opted not to get the international rate.
