The officers took a copy of my USFK license and state license, and wrote down my plate number and phone number.
What now? Should I expect to hear about this from above? |

Re: Anyone been pulled over?
Ok now this is what I have heard form 3 people , the KNP take your details then when you go to clear /leave Korea your ticket/ violation will be there waiting for you ,therefore you have to pay any fines before you can clear ......................slick, huh ?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Korean gov't being able to collect traffic fines. |

Re: Anyone been pulled over?
Yeah, but that would have to be a slightly unpleasant surprise when you're trying to leave the country. Would they let it slide if you didn't have the money?

So it's not up to the Korean Police letting you slide because you're short on cash. It's the PMO. Will the PMO let you slide?? I highly doubt it. A common scenario: Soldier A purchases a car from Soldier B. Unbeknownst to Soldier A, Soldier B had some outstanding tickets - but left country without paying them. 2-3 years later Soldier A shows up at PMO to clear... and guess what? Soldier A is on the hook to pay Soldier B's tickets. Soldier A can stand there and b!tch, stomp his feet, and scream "But it ain't fair" all day long ~ and it won't do him a bit of good. Either he pays - or he doesn't clear. |

Re: Anyone been pulled over?
I was in a car on the expressway and the guy driving was in the lane for vans. The KNP stopped him just so he could impress the other policeman with him that he could speak English.
