I read through them. What does hard labor without confinement mean?

Who has the degree in Criminal Justice?
It means he must go to work on the ditch digging crew or do some other physically hard work for 8-12 hours, but is allowed to go back home or to a barracks when work is over. |

Ah, but I didn't study military law! I figured that's what it meant but it didn't make any sense. Go ahead and lock'em up and do the hard labor. Teach them a leason.

We haven't read the entire case, but sometimes extenuating circumstances affect decisions, as you well know. Perhaps the Sgt. had a family here, or some other reason that confinement would present a hardship inconsistent with the seriousness of the crime.

Well..my insight on hard labor without confinment is this...doing a normal duty day, getting released at 1700...go to chow , report to extra duty till whenever that CSM feels fit to release you anywhere between 2200-2359...which usually an E-5 is supervising extra duty

Sounds reasonable for the military way; but doesn't seem like hard labor would be only 2 hours?
Also, wouldn't that be called non-judicial punishment, i.e. extra duty? Keep this up, we'll need a lawyer... |
