I made it!

Well, I guess I am going to have to edit my profile to reflect that I am no longer at MacDill and now in Korea. Damn what a long flight. Always pays to upgrade to business elite class! Now sitting at the airport waiting for the bus to the base...yet another 3 hours. You can catch me here in General Discussion or Kunsan Air Base threads.

Let the soju journey begin!

Say hello to my wife. She will be there 'til 19th. Incheon is quite a clean and organized terminal isn't it?

Re: I made it!

I flew on delta and it cost 25,000 skymiles to upgrade to First for US travel and Business Elite from ATL to ICN. WELL WORTH IT!

ICN is a great airport. Very clean, easy to get around and well marked. I have been through there a few times already and very please with it.

Re: I made it!

From Atlanta to Incheon, the flight was 14-hours, 45-minutes. I took the Delta flight (not code-shared with Korean Air) and it was great. I flew on the Korean Air/Delta flight (B747) before and it is nothing compaired to flying on a straight Delta B777. Little more space, even if you are flying in coach. The food selection is a little better in my opinion.

The time goes quick, and Korean Air is top notch. I made the trip this past March from D.C. with my wife and our 7 month old. I Counted four other <2 children on the flight. The stewardesses were accommodating, and the vibration of the plane helped our daughter sleep like a, well, baby.

Rader's absolutely right.. both Korean Air and Delta are wonderful and *very* accommodating. The "touchscreen" entertainment kept our admittedly older one occupied on the trip. One little note to pass along that many don't realize.. if you contact the airline you're flying on a little before your departure date (the amount of time varies from airline to airline, but a good point of reference would be no later than 72 hours before you fly, giving the airlines 3 days to make arrangements) , you can request even more amenities for kids, including Kids' meals for the trip, and other little perks.

We ordered kids meals for our now 9 year old on the trip over, and there was too much food there for even the heartiest eater, and he said it was all very well prepared, and it looked ..somewhat..nutritional. (Hamburgers or pizza were the choices, I think :) )

Also, when making your reservations, if bulkhead seats with screens are available, request one..they have a little more leg room, traditionally, and give a squirmy toddler more room to squirm in :)

Hope this helps, I'm sure your trip will go by much faster than you think! :)

Dee :)

My daughter is 2 (almost 3 now) and she was very good on the flight over. She's normally pretty high strung (and she was on the 3 hour flight from Chicago to San Francisco) but by the time we started our leg to Korea she settled down and slept all but the first and last hour. Flying really tires them out. Also, fyi...I flew United and didn't need a booster seat from her but a friend of mine said that Delta/Korean Air told her that she had to have a booster for her 2 year old. That might be something you want to check on. If all else fails you could always use benadryl...I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
