Cuss as you would like....I asked Dee to do that, just so people would undestand what can happen when something is written on-line.

Remember, we had a person removed from the military becasue of what he wrote on this board....

I also will not cuss around the elderly. So gingersmurf if you are elderly I wont cuss in front of you. However I realize that you have no respect for the infantry that fights for your freedom. If they cuss and adults are around I see no problem. Do you watch only PG movies??? If you stop watching a movie because of too much cussing then it's more than likely a religious issue. Open up and explain yourself to us. I might actually respect you if you give me a little background about why you feel the way you feel. I just believe in keeping it clean around kids and the elderly. Thats all I gotta say.........
If you would have said the statment above and opened up like this before you started your other statments, this thread would only be 1/3 of what it is now.

Talking Re: Offensive Language

Well, I guess I saw through the "Fistfight" joke for sure! Maybe because I've been called "Elderly" before!
We are a bunch of tattletales! I enjoyed that, too!
Trying to use long discourses on a computer board to change the way people think is pretty much a waste. But I have had lots of fun watching!
I never had a commander in over 35 years in government service who used foul language. I could say some things that would infuriate people and cause more grousing, but I won't bother. As I said, we all should know by now where we stand. Even crusty old Ironsider wouldn't knowingly say bad words in front of children and ladies! Infantrymen are a different breed. Look at Patton. One of my favorite movies of all time!
Anybody remember Colonel Best, one of the first Army Colonels to serve at Camp Humphreys when it was first built from the former Pyongtaek Air Base? I met him once in the barbershop. I believe his first name was Fred. He introduced himself to me as,"Colonel Fred Best, the readin', writin' Infantryman !" A heck of a guy-and so proud of his job.
God bless 2 ID, and best of luck to their new Major General, who used to be at Yongsan. Y'all can look forward to improved morale and conditions at Casey, I believe.

Re: Offensive Language

I have just been reading this and havent said anything until now, but here is my two cents.

What I see is a serious decline in moral obligations; to yourselves, to others, to the world as a whole. While I do enjoy a little disagreement and have, on occasions, baited someone into an argument for the sake of the fight. I think personal attacks, wither said in jest or not, is totally uncalled for. How would you feel if your mother was reading this? Would she be proud? Let me wait for the juvenal are you talking about my momma? attacks.

Yes, but you did CHOOSE, and in making that choice you took an oath. Respect is a large part of being in the military.

Just because others have failed to live up to the ARMY values (and I believe that the other branches are pretty close to the same) doesnt mean you shouldnt. You should always strive to be a better person. Just because you old enough to Vote, Drink, Own a Gun and Kill People doesnt make you a man. Being a man is doing the right thing even when things are going to hell all around you.

Sure I have the dirtiest mouth when Im playing poker or alone with friends. But in public I am in check. I think the youth have lost that switch in their heads that lets them know when and where is the right time. And just so you know Im not that old. Im only 31.

We have been at war with terror for longer then I was born. 9/11 was not the first time that America was attacked from the inside and it wont be the last. But war is the one time that we should keep ourselves and not prove that enemy right. How do you think we look to those that watch us? Do you even care?

Thank you..whether you realize it or not, you just proved one of the major points I was trying to get across in my post. Posts made on this board, or any other board, for that matter, unfortunately don't come with laugh tracks, or inflection notes. Anyone reading them, can effectively read anything into that post they want. While you may have meant your post as a joke, someone reading it, given that there was no LOL, or other indication that it was a joke, etc. , could take it very seriously, and you could find yourself in a world of trouble.

You also brought up a very good point about 'pulling rank'. While I, in my post, never mentioned anything about rank at all, the fact of the matter is that this board is a very well known public board in the USFK, and you never know who might be reading it. The 'anonymous guest' checking the forum out could be General Bell himself, and none of us would never know it... so this isn't the best place to be bragging about breaking rules, bad behavior, etc. You may unintentionally be giving someone a bad impression of yourself that you may not want to be giving a bad impression, and that could come back and bite you in the butt later.

The bottom line, and this is advice that we all can take, and not just in this situation...the internet isn't as anonymous as you think, and like it or not, things you do or say on a public forum *can* actually have rammifications, subtle or dramatic.

Dee :)

Wow, excellent return to illustrate your point about childish comments. Define elderly and I will let you know if I qualify.

I have the utmost respect for the MEN that fight for our freedom. For the men that honor the uniform, moral code, and core values of the United States armed forces.

Respect for individuals who elect to flout their freedoms, distorting them to envelope their personal morals and beliefs? Nope, not a lot of respect there.

Re: Offensive Language

Little humor break here! On the lighter side, I just got this in my email today from a friend and I thought it belonged in this topic! LOL!

Dear Employees:

It has been brought to management's attention that some individuals throughout the company have been using foul language during the course of normal conversation with their co-workers.

Due to complaints received from some employees who may be easily offended, this type of language will no longer be tolerated.

We do, however, realize the critical importance of being able to accurately express your feelings when communicating with co-workers.

Therefore, a list of 18 New and Innovative 'TRY SAYING' phrases have been provided so that proper exchange of ideas and information can continue in an effective manner.

Mr. Joe...

Just a friendly correction and to thank you for so aptly defending my post.
It was I (B4Real53) not Ginger Smurf who accompanied my husband to Camp Casey and am also retired after 20 yrs in military.

Re: Offensive Language

If you guys can't tell that I'm just talkin smack then you need your heads checked. This is an internet forum. Pulling rank is uncalled for. Chucksnee I don't hate you. Hell, I'd buy you a beer if we met at the bar. This is all I have to say... yes military people should avoid cussing around children and elderly. I could give a shit less what a grown woman thinks about my language. All grown women have heard cusswords. If they don't like it then wear headphones and listen to music. Military men will keep cussing regardless. I learned to cuss in the military. I never used foul language till I joined. Quite frankly cussing gets the point across faster.....
