Exclamation Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I have with receiving some of my mail that I had sent to me.

I had someone from the states send me a few packages around Nov 21th, and I gave them the wrong zip code(the Unit#& everything else was correct) by mistake because the mailroom in my battalion gave me the wrong zip code(which I thought was correct at the time). 3 weeks later I find out it's THE WRONG ZIP CODE & I start going crazy trying to find out where it was sent.

So I go online..do research & find out that the 96264 zip code was KUNSAN AB. The correct zip code is 96260(Camp Carroll where I'm stationed).

I let my mailroom know my situation and they gave me little or no info..they don't even know the phone number for the mailroom in KUNSAN AB..which is a shame!

I can't even find the phone number online(through Google), so if it's not too much..can help me find the phone number out for the Kunsan AB Post office so I can call & see if they still got my packages...please!

I'm hoping the post office in Kunsan would see the address on the package & know the correct place to sent it to(since I had my Unit# & Battery on the package). But so far...no mail yet. PLUS I don't believe my packages were sent back to the sender yet because they didn't receive anything as of today.

Now I know it's the holidays & the post office is BUSY around this time of year but it don't take over a month for a package to get from 1 place to another.

Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

It takes longer than normal even here in Korea, sending internal in Korea also takes longer....Even with the correct zip code I have had my mail sent to the wrong unit, JSA to be exact....

But it did get here eventually...I remember when the stamp changed and I forgot about that so I put an old stamp on (37 cents) dropped it in the mail, it was returned to me and never left the Hump and still took 10 days to get it back.....

Thumbs down Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

My mail shows about 15-20% has been mis-sent to other APO's. I have date stamps from Camp Long, from various Naval APO's and from Kunsan. The Military Postal System uses a lot of people who are not qualified to do their regular job, so they are detailed to the Mail Rooms. It is so much easier to send mail away or stamp it Return to Sender than to actually find the right mailbox to put it in. I think some of the misfits that no one wants and no one has the courage or time to document their being "Chaptered Out" make it into the Postal System. Too bad the U.S. Postal Service doesn't serve us in Korea.
Some mail just sits in mailrooms over the weekend. It is a mess, and I don't care if there are a lot of people moving in and out every year. A little care would work wonders, with some DISCIPLINE added.

It shouldn't take a month, but on more that one occasion I have waited 6 weeks for a Priority shipped package. The system is just really messed up. Good luck finding your box

Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

I'm waiting now for a package that was mailed on Nov. 4. I know it's got to be somewhere in Korea. We had one piece of mail that was mis-sent to 3 different places right here on post. It had the correct address on it. Then for some reason they sent it to my husbands old unit at Ft. Irwin. They sent it to his parents address and then his parents mailed it to us. That letter traveled from Delaware to Korea to California to Phoenix and then back to Korea and it only took 6 months.

You should eventually get your packages. It may be a year and half from now at your next assignment but at least you'll get them.

I ordered a package of health food from a company in California. I paid first by credit card. The card was billed, and I waited. After two months, as I was preparing a letter to them, I received a note saying they were sorry that I returned their great product unopened, and they were surprised I did not even use the free trial! They had credited my card for the amount, and I was not charged. the military postal system!

(I wonder how their letter got to me , when the package didn't??

Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

I think it's more customs then our men and women working at the post office. I hear a lot of stuff get's turned around in California. Don't know for a fact. But, I know plenty of times the postal workers at Osan have impressed me. Once I dropped off a package to be mailed and got home and realized I put the wrong street address. I ran back and they dug through all the packages to help me find my box so I could fix it. They could have just said, sorry too late. It was really covered with lots of holiday packages being sent out. Another time, I was trying to come in the door a minute late, not realizing when they closed. He saw me coming and instead of saying too late, he let me in the door. I think that's pretty exceptional in our often dog eat dog world.

Thumbs up Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

There is good and bad in every business, and varied personalities. Overall, I believe the Military Postal system is handicapped, compared with the U.S. Postal Service, which, itself, doesn't claim to be perfect. God bless Postal Workers everywhere! (I wonder if that will help?) Oh, and Customs Service workers, also!

Unhappy Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

Well...I waited since the last time I posted this Thread.

So far I have received most of my packages. BUT there's a Laptop out there that I haven't received in the mail yet that was ordered in Late November.

I contacted the company I ordered it from..and they said they haven't received my laptop back in the mail yet. They were also talking about replacing my Laptop if it gets lost in the mail, BUT they said it's my fault..and they're not responsible since I put the wrong address.(I guess I understand...)

So...after that I finally was able to found the phone # to Kunsan AB Post Office. I let the Post Office know my situation and they said they didn't have my package & said they would have sent it to the right address anyway because the Unit # is correct, and they would have looked up the Unit # to know where the package should be sent to.

So right now....I have NO IDEA where my $536 laptop is. I'm all thinking someone stole it...Or it got sent back to the company I ordered it from but they just threw it back on the shelf & discarded all paperwork...but that's just me guessing!(BTW..the company is CDW.com)

I told my Battle Buddy about my situation and he suggested going to JAG with my invoice to see if the company I ordered my Laptop from could give me a refund or give me a replacement.

BUT if it was my fault originally because I gave them the wrong address. Would the company have an obligation for any of this?

P.S: CDW didn't give me a USPS tracking number for my package & they can't even track the package themselves...that sounds new to me!
