So far I have received most of my packages. BUT there's a Laptop out there that I haven't received in the mail yet that was ordered in Late November.

I contacted the company I ordered it from..and they said they haven't received my laptop back in the mail yet. They were also talking about replacing my Laptop if it gets lost in the mail, BUT they said it's my fault..and they're not responsible since I put the wrong address.(I guess I understand...:-( )

So...after that I finally was able to found the phone # to Kunsan AB Post Office. I let the Post Office know my situation and they said they didn't have my package & said they would have sent it to the right address anyway because the Unit # is correct, and they would have looked up the Unit # to know where the package should be sent to.

So right now....I have NO IDEA where my $536 laptop is. I'm all thinking someone stole it...Or it got sent back to the company I ordered it from but they just threw it back on the shelf & discarded all paperwork...but that's just me guessing!(BTW..the company is CDW.com)

I told my Battle Buddy about my situation and he suggested going to JAG with my invoice to see if the company I ordered my Laptop from could give me a refund or give me a replacement.

BUT if it was my fault originally because I gave them the wrong address. Would the company have an obligation for any of this?
Surely there was a tracking number or insurance...wasn't there?

JAG probably can't do anything for you as this is a postal matter. You need to speak with the post master or senior postal inspector.

CDW doesn't have any insurance that I can really use,(maybe a "Accidental Protection Plan") but nothing else.
In Reality I just thought my package would get here without problems just like any other package I would get via mail. But I see it's alot different in Korea or just any country overseas.
Some people are like.."Don't worry..your package will get here."
Is it that the Army Postal service is reliable but very slow?

Re: Mail in Korea.....Help!!!

You can have all the tracking numbers in the world, as soon as it hit's the APO address in CA or where ever your APO is, it is now n the hands of the military post office which does not track anything.

If you ever have a tracking number when sending something over here it's last place will be the APO, then it will just show up in your box.

To the OP, sorry your laptop is gone. It happened to a friend of mine but to the cost of $2500.

You should have had it insured through the company and then beable to to get your money back that way, if not then i'm not sure what to do?

I hate to say it, but simply stated, my experience is that the APO is terrible about losing mail - and this is especially true in cases where unit mail rooms are involved.

There are many fine, hard working servicemembers in the unit mailrooms. But there are also a lot of soldiers who are working there because the 1SG was told he had to supply a body for a six month detail in the unit mailroom, and he/she saw that as the perfect opportunity to get rid of a soldier who was causing problems at the unit.

Anything of value should be sent registered mail or insured (or both).
