100% guarentee it was no lie. I overheard enough of the conversation, and heard him giving the number.
I'm not trying to dis the military here. I'm telling you guys... this MP was planning to meet her. Besides, why the heck would he be giving her his number? |

What conversation did you hear?.....Did you witness P/HT?....Why didn't you call him on it?....What were you doing on the "Hill" any way?....And why were you talking to one of the working girls?....I'm sure you weren't asking her if she caught Kobe's 80 point game.....

What sounds incredibly fishy is that a working girl would get into a lengthy conversation with a perfect stranger about how she does her business - to include discussing things that she knows are against military regulation and would get her customers in trouble. And please explain how a non-SOFA member "buys things at the stores inside while she's there." They don't have military IDs and RCPs - so they can't go into the PX, commissary, etc. It takes those girls about five seconds (literally) to figure out if you're interested in their services. They size you up very quickly - and if you're not interested - they turn and look for someone who is. They don't stand there and tell you - in detail - what arrangements they have with whom and how they go about their business. |

Wow, looks like I got under somebody's skin here. I wonder why? It's so easy to see by how obsessively you combed through my post.
Let me point out a few obvious things here: When someone non-military says they "bought things on base" it is a general understanding that they were on base by invitation and purchased things as a part of that invitation. That implies being with someone, obviously. Secondly, I both saw and overheard the discussion between the MP and the prostitute. I'll even do you one better. The MP was white, blonde, about 6'1" tall (a guess) with typical short hair. He was wearing the new desert-style clothing. He was somewhat stocky. He was on patrol last Thursday evening. Sound like anyone you know? Go ahead and call me a liar if you want. I have no agenda here. |

Cops are only human
Don't understand what the shocker is about a cop propositioning one of the local working girls. I knew many cops throughout several tours in Korea and they did all of the same things everyone else did while downtown. I can't believe that 'Songtan Sally' is still around and working. That girl has probably worked at every bar town in country. I remember her prowling Aragon alley in 93. Before that she worked Iteawon. You know the real travesty is that some poor GI's will be made examples for the sake of the brass trying to show their policies have teeth. Prostitution existed in Korea and everywhere else in the world in spite of any American GI presence but it is the GI who will be hung out to dry. I for one think prostitution should be legalized and regulated. Better a business transaction than a horny and drunk GI attacking an unwilling partner, isn't it?

And why the big rag about her not being able to buy stuff on base? You think he can't buy stuff for her while they're inside? And willy, how is it you know so much about how the girls conduct their business? Heresay, or do you have first-hand knowledge? This is all really minor, though. What needs to be done is to have Oprah go to Songtan. By that I mean that all of the "get tough" talk is simply a bunch of talk to meet the lowest possible requirement. This business about getting tough on human trafficking is lipservice to appease politicians, etc., until Songtan is policed like the hill is in Itaewon. Osan/Songtan is where the real problems with human trafficking are. Why don't the MP's enter the bars there, and make them off-limits? The girls working "the hill" in Itaewon are Koreans there of their own choice. The girls working in Songtan next to the US base are filipinas who are lied to about getting singing jobs. Then when they get here, they are told to dance half-naked on a pole and take barfines from troops. They are locked in rooms with all of the other bargirls all but 2 or 3 hours out of the entire day, and are not allowed to leave until they go to work. This is as close as it gets to human trafficking, but I guess that small Songtan area doesn't have the same PR value as Seoul. Maybe this is what it means when a US General gets on AFN-TV and says human trafficking is "Allegal." I suppose "Allegal" (as opposed to the correct pronounciation -- "Illegal") means that it's A-OK to do it in Songtan, but not in Seoul, where the Korean TV cameras are? You see the difference, and the absurdity of it all? Last edited by Powershot : 05-08-2006 at 09:44 AM. |

This is weird. I seem to have made some mistake, or there is some bug here. My posts are out of order now. Really weird.

A big part of my job is conducting statement analysis. I've been doing it for over 20 years. Once you become proficient at it - deception is remarkably easy to detect - especially in written statements. Normally I wouldn't bother with something like this in a public forum. But your statements are so woefully shot through with inconsistencies - I just couldn't help myself. Worse yet - you pile on more and more of them on as you go along. And I didn't have to comb through your posts - the whoppers you throw in them stick out like sore thumbs. |
