Captain found guilty of cheating on WAPS test

She committed the act while enlisted.
Capt. Rhonda McDaniel, of the 45th Space Wing, was found guilty of conspiring with two other Air Force members to cheat on the Weighted Airmen Promotion System (WAPS) test by wrongfully possessing and giving the contents of the controlled test materials to other Air Force members. She was sentenced to dismissal from the Air Force.

Shouldn't she have gotten more than just a dismissal from the Air Force?

Her rank says it all...there's not much more that you can do. Watch and see what the enlisted people get for this when their names come out. I'm sure it will involve loss of pay, maybe some jail time, and a Big Chicken Dinner. Good thing for her they didn't catch her until she joined the O's.

Re: Captain found guilty of cheating on WAPS test

I think they were too easy on her. However, since she did have some enlisted time which is now down the tubes, I guess she lost a little more than average.
The cheating problem in the AF is more widespread than 10-11 people. Cheating not only occurs in the WAPS program but in other programs as well. I'm not sure but I believe the Navy administers their promotion test on the same day world wide to reduce the leaking of test questions. It is hard for me to believe that a husband and wife who are both testing don't share test questions (esp. PFE questions). However, even with the cheating the AF promotion program is still the best of all the services.
It is more objective and has less good ole boy factor than the other services. A history side note. The WAPS system as we know it came into being around 1970. Before that the AF had the highest number of congressional complaints regarding promotions.
Currently there is a movement to somehow put physical fitness results as a weighted factor for promotion. This is stupid. Those individuals who think this is a good idea should join the Army. I think the army places emphasis on this area. The army also has mandatory physical fitness almost every monring. The result is they come to work at 0900 and leave at 1700 (I can only speak of support personnel). Along with taking almost all day conducting "Sergeants Time" they wind up only putting in 28 -30 hours a week on the job. As you can see, this is what may happen if you over emphasize physical fitness. I expect if you randomly take 100 AF personnel and 100 Army personnel and administer a physical fitness test the results will be almost the same. The AF guys may even do better.
