Command Sponsored?
Hello all!
I was wondering if any of you knew what the chances of a lowly Air Force E-5 getting command sponsorship to Korea. I am married to a Korean national and am considering going back for another tour. I don’t have any orders or anything like that yet, just weighing my options. Is it even worth pursuing? If I went their NCS do you think I would be able to stay longer than 1 year? After reading thru these forums it seems like this is the place to get the best and most honest answers. Any help is appreciated! |

Re: Command Sponsored?
If you come here NCS and your orders are for one year, you could extend IF the AIP policy is still on, even though at this point they are closing it.
You can get CS if they have a spot for you. |

Re: Command Sponsored?
We have a friend whose wife is Korean, and they had gone back to the states and then came back here. Anyway she came here NCS just like any other NCS spouse, and she was entitled to all the benifits that any other NCS spouse is. She just left to go back to the states even though he isn't leaving until April becuase she is trying to get her US citizenship. I don't know much about that though, it's a whole other thing though. She also chose not to participate with the NEO in case something happened so she could stay here with her parents.

Re: Command Sponsored?
Only downside I've seen so far is tricare standard I think that's the policy my wife falls under. Pretty much you pay 100% up front and get 75% paid back.

Re: Command Sponsored?
You know I haven't had any problems getting in for anything. I've already had my wisdom teeth removed since being here. They thought I was military, and when they found out I wasn't they didn't ask if I was NCS or not. Since it was at an MTF I didn't owe anything

Re: Command Sponsored?
Thanks everybody!
Looks like NCS is the way I will probably go if/when I put in for orders to Korea. |
