GOLF in KOREA

Anyone interested in starting a club for golfers?
We can help each other find nice courses around Korea, and play once a month or so. Military base courses are also nice, and in fact, can someone please invite me to SungNam CC?

Cool Re: GOLpu in KOREA

I just read this- I know you as a good forum member, but I don't run with anyone who plays golf... Retirees, officers & Senior NCO's who use golf to hob-nob with superior officers are your best bet. The VFW might be a place to start-just go in and ask-they are very friendly and helpful to all. I still work for a living, and my wife keeps me so busy I don't have time to play golf.
When asked, I always say," I don't shoot anything I can't eat!" I hunt and fish.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

I'll be at Osan in March and VERY ready to hit the links, as well as another guy coming to Osan the same time as me. I want to play as many places as I can for the year. Unlike Mr. Joe, my wife will be in the states so I will have a year "off" to play much more than I do now. Usually someone who thinks golf is just for hob-nobbing and seems like they have better things to do, sucks at playing golf. :-) No offense Mr Joe. I am a SNCO and I play for the sport, the challange of the game, and it is a true passion of mine...and fishing too. Is there much opportunity to fish in Korea?
Oh, I would love to be involved in a golf club!

Re: GOLF in KOREA

Welcome to our forum, please contribute as you get the urge!

Look around usfkclassifieds.com and the edges of this forum and you will find the Anglers information. Fishing is better than ever before in Korea. They now have Bass Clubs! I was given a set of clubs once, and played golf twice with a neighbor. No doubt I suck! All my cousins are avid golfers. I bowled for a while, and was good at that, too. I learned to shoot skeet, and got to be good; even won a few times in competition. Then I decided not to shoot anything I couldn't eat. It works for me.
I am more interested in true blood sports, where I compete with nature and animals; not games, where people compete. Animals and fish seldom seek revenge, or kill for jealousy. Too bad about the young fellow who recently got shot in his stretch limo in Denver. I read that he came up the hard way, won success, and then was taken out in a drive-by shooting. Sad.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

Awesome! Looks like we got outselves a flight of three already.
There are a lot of courses that we can play around Seoul, the only thing is that it costs quite a lot to play a round in Korea. We are talking roughly $ 200.00/round/person. If this is not a problem, give me a call and I can book a flight for us. (017-755-7754 - Steve)

If you haven't played at a Korean course, it will be a good experience for you as the Korean courses are very different from the ones in the States.

Or if you can book a flight at OSAN AB course or SungNam CC, it will be a lot cheaper. The only thing is that you will have to invite me into the base as I believe I have to be escorted in or something.

Either way, I share your passion for the game, and there ain't nothing like spending 4-5 hours on the field while smelling fresh greens.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

Osan is much cheaper than Sungnam..
Sungnam is still about 175 + 80 or so for a caddy.
if you're a visitor that is.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

Is it true that Osan's course is a nine hole with 18 tee box locations? I don't get there until the first week of March but, when it comes to golf money is not much of a factor. Now, at $200 a whack I will not be doing that to much but, I will play a lot on the base. I do want to get out and play around the country during my 1 year tour though. I'll get a membership at Osan when I get there.
I just went over 20 years so taking the Osan our was a tough decision but we decided to go ahead and then take one last tour in Europe to follow...then I am done! Out at about 25 year mark.
I guess I will bring my fishing poles!

Re: GOLF in KOREA

Osan has 18 holes. Not near as nice as Songnam, but costs less to play.

Talking Re: GOLF in KOREA

Steve, let's make a club for golf here in this forum, and I'm sure that we can exchange and share the golf courses and even more for culture and language.

Whether it's Osan or Sungnam, why don't we see each other around Osan airbase-off-base I mean, and have a kick-off meeting.

I'm working in an foreign company in Ansan, and really crazy about golf.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

I get there the first week of march and would be open to getting together someplace near Osan. I am shipping a car over so transportation is not an issue. I'd like to play some courses while I am there for the year. Please let me know if you guys get something going. Thanks.
