Bear Creek CC

I went to Bear Creek CC on 17 of March, tee time was 07:04.
I arrived there around 6 a.m. and had a breakfast(I must have it whatever happen).
It's been a long time since I was there, it's almost a year.
There're 36 holes and I love the bear course where lanked on the 6th last year in Korea for the best golf courses.
It was a bit chilly even the colour of fairway is still yellow, and a couple of green is still frozen but I enjoyed very much.
I hit 91, including 43 putting on the green.

I reserved it through the internet on the 12th of March luckily.
My friends working for Loan-star(everybody knows the name because they bought KEB, Star-tower building during IMF period in Korea), played well but it's 7,000yds long so he hit more than 100.

Sooner or later I want to go again to see green, green grass field~

Nam-Yeojoo CC

I left home around 04:30 since we need to have breakfast in the clubhouse at 05:30.
I met those player around 05:45 at the clubhouse and had the breakfast together.
I invited 2 US soldiers(Jerry and Smith) as the RSOI completed by the end of March, they looks like a bit tired but they played well even in such a early morning.

I played here first time and it's not that much difficult to play, but as you guys know well the "Yellow Dust" is so severe, our throat is a bit sandy.
We finished the game around 11:00 and took a bath and went to the outside restaurant of the country club for lunch.
To remedy for sandy throat, we are recommended to order steaming pig meat(samgyeopssal) with a fresh vegetable with a glass of beer.
It's really delicious and I think that Jerry was fall in love with this dish.

I bought the lunch and give them a ride, and promised to invite them to my home asap since they may leave this July.
I explained a lot of situation of the Korea, People, my family and golf.
I told them "Go outside of your base, please feel real Korea, Korean, and enjoy your time in my country during your stay!"

I hit 95, lost 3 balls, 2 driver OB, 2 wood OB,
Iron is also problem
Missed 3 times for buddie putting very closely

But Jerry, it's a fun!
See U next time.

Re: GOLF in KOREA

wow..haven't been visiting the site recently, but "golf in Korea" seems to be doing quite well. Since the weather is more and more favorable for a round of golf, I want to pitch in to this positive atmosphere we have here. I will try to join in on the next round....

Military Service in Korea

During 1992~1993, I attended the MS(Master of Science) of HR course at the Chapman university at Yongsan education center in Seoul.
I had a chance to meet a lot of soldiers and officers of US Government working at a various level and functions.
Also I participated a lot of activities with them especially held at the outside of the base since I was the only Korean at the class.

I found that they wanted to see the real Korea, feel real Korean, and go out of their base, but simultaneously they reluctantly get out of their base due to a lot of barrier.
So they just stay in the base and only see the cities during their ridings of inter-base bus, and say Korea is damned crowded, demonstrated for something all year long, critically polluted, expensive, looked like angered, so on...

This is because First of all, language.
I've never met a US soldier who speak Korean other than KATUSA and Kyopo.
When I took a couple of US Soldier to Sokcho(Seol-Ahk Mountain area), they didn't do anything by themselves without my translation.
Nowadays a bit change but language barrier is the main reason for this.

Some soldier may say, we can go to USO and can have a lot of tour in Korea...
Sorry, that's the goods for sale to US soldiers or foreigners but it's not the real Korea or real life of ours.
I want to tell you guys, please do not stay in your base and go out to feel real Korea, Korean and enjoy your time during your military service in my country.

Here I am, as a volunteer, to guide U guys into the REAL KOREA!
Especially Mountaineering, Temple stay and gathering(eating a various of traditional Korean dishes) with my family!
Have a nice weekend!

Kwang-Gyo Mountain

I went to Kwang-gyo mountain last sunday, it's take about 2hours from home and back.
It's around 500meters high and traditional earth mountain with rare rock.

I reminded that I went there last June with Victor who was working at Osan AB, and have a plan to retire in a couple of years.
He want to be a gardener in Miami where he's born in 1950's after his retirement.
He invited his wife to Korea following my advice for 2 weeks, she's working at Seattle as a hair-designer(?).
They seems like really a new couple during the travel with us(with my wife), we went Kang-wha island(during Chosun dynasty, Chosun naval forces defeat American naval forces but they take over the admiral flag of Chosun naval forces, and display it at the naval academy of MP. US).
There were a lot of castle built in Chosun dynasty to protect any ships to approach into Han-river(Hanyang-Seoul down town).
And also Kangwha island is famous for Korean Ginseng.
They visited Jeju island, Kyoung-joo(capital of Shilla dynasty) and so on.
I invited them to my home and have a tea time, and lunch together with my kids also.

He's interested in Church and was trying to introduce all of it on his website as many as possible.
I took him to some of churches during the weekend.

Hi! Victor!
How have you 2 been?
I'm missing U!

Joezoh!
Such a nice story- Maybe we should move it to the "Korean Culture" forum. Thank you for entertaining foreigners. You are very generous!
When I was the Advisor to the Korean Air Force, I built a radar site on northern Kangwha Do; PyolipSan. Also I hunted on Cheju Do and love the scenery.

Taeyoung CC

Sunday(April 15), I woke 5:00, left home around 5:20, and arrive there at 6:06.
I have a breakfast with the players and coffee...

Last time, last December, I hit 102, the worst score in last year.
The best score at this club was 92.
I found the club is not that difficult, but lot of ups and downs.

I missed 2 buddies, getting in and get out the hole , 2 OBs ...
I hit 91 this time...

This cc has 27 holes.
