700 members!
Well we just blasted through 700 members! We are adding 4-10 new members a day or about 200 new members a month. That means we should hit 1,000 registered members in May!

Now if we can just get people to post and stop looking at the girls!

Of the 700 how many have been active in the last month as that may be a better gage. Also do we know how many anonymous users we get a week???

This site gets well over 1 million hits a month (40,000 hits a day) and about 12,000 page views a day. Hits are never important because they include spiders, bots and other non-human visitors. The real measure is unique visitors (basically, unique IP addresses). We get about 700 unique visitors a day. Also, we get about 45 registered members visiting each day. Do the math and we get about 650 "guests" who visit each day.

that's great, but I'm wondering why post traffic usually revolves around the same 5-6 people...

It's odd isn't it? I also co-own a forum with 7,000+ members and only about 700 are regular posters. I guess most people just read.

of the 173, 123 actively post.

these are stats from 11 Jan 06 when we started from scratch after we lost the db to an upgrade bug.

I'm just really interested in knowing why there's a difference between posters vs lurkers when USFK forums has almost 7x the number of readers... ya know?

it'd be great to have more posters, it would bring more flavor to the forums.
my 2 cents, lurk less, post more.

you know what they say about opinions being like aholes, everyone's got one... :P

I think to get more interaction from lurkers is the reason the polling was added to the bulletin board software. There are some, like V Bulletin, that have a spell checker, a function that does not always seem to work well in web software. There is much more diversity on this board than one would think and it is because of the posting of those who are not just military that gives this board its' special flavor. I would love to see more English teachers post here as they see Korea from a unique prospective. I know the information here is what brought me but the diversity and civility is what is keeping me.

Bob,

If I crashed the site and restarted the database from scratch, only the active ones would probably sign back up thus increasing the percentages.

One of the biggest reasons for the lack of members posting is because I made the gallery only viewable by members. Many people sign up just to see the girls!

Bob, you need to bring some of those 3,700 post over here!
