USFK Presents Korean Film Festival
The Jeju Times is reporting that the 2nd USFK Korean Film Festival is coming up. There will be 6 different Korean movies (English Sub-titles) playing at Osan Air Base, Camp Humphreys, and Yongsan Garrison between 24-25 Oct 05. All movies are FREE to USFK Card holders. The movie description and times are as follows.
JSA The movie starts off as a mystery thriller as a South Korean soldier is under investigation for a murder of two North Korean soldiers. But soon the carefully told tale reveals the story of sad but beautiful forbidden friendship that couldn't survive the harsh reality of twisted ideology. Sword in the Moon Cheong Poong Myeong Weol, which means sword in the moon, is an elite military training camp where the epic of two swordsmen during the Chosun dynasty starts. Brotherhood, aspiration, conspiracy and revenge fill the screen with marvelous battle scenes. Blue “Blue” is an exciting navy story with a touch of romance. Jun and Taehyun, the most outstanding members of the navy’s ship salvage unit dive into the deep waters to save Sujin trapped in the submarine. The Way Home “The Way Home” is a story of a spoiled little brat’s summer spent with his deaf, mute grandmother in the country. It was number one box office hit without a single car chase or any help of computer graphic but only with nostalgia of our childhood. A Little Monk “A Little Monk” is also a story of a boy learning the meaning of life through yearning for his long lost mother. The serene beauty of Korea spreads on the screen throughout the film. Wonderful Days With remarkable computer graphic technology, the landmark of Korean animation “Wonderful Days” created the future of despair where the sky is no longer blue and love is no longer eternal. And yet hope lingers in the air as Jay waits for her love Shua. Movie Schedule Multipurpose training facility at Yongsan Oct. 24 (Fri.) I have seen "The way Home" and have it on video. It is a touching little story, and well written and acted. The grandmother character is the real thing, a grandmother who, I'm told never acted before. You have to like this movie.
