Deserter Charles Jenkins on 60 Minutes

Charles Jenkins is probably the most famous U.S. deserter that went to North Korea during Armistice. He deserted to North Korea in 1965. He worked near the DMZ and went to North Korea after drinking 10 beers! You can read the story on CBS and on Chosun Ilbo. The full interview will be aired on '60 Minutes' on 23 Oct 05.

He married a Japanese woman who was abducted from Japan by North Korean agents. Does anyone feel sorry for this man?

Yeah, this guy's definitely a winner...

More importantly, is he Ross Perot's long lost twin?

No. I believe he should be grateful he wasn't court-martialed and sent to Leavenworth.

I don't think sending him to jail will do much. I have a felling the man is dying of some disease or the North Koreans would not have let him go.

The guy was an idiot who got drunk and went accross the DMZ. I can't imagine the hell he went through. Basically, he has been in prison for 40+ years and now has been released. I don't feel sorry for him because I think we should all take resposibility for the decisions we make in life. In the end, he threw away 40+ years of his life for one night of stupidity.
