OK-now I know what FSU means. Thanks. When I was learning about the bar scene here, specifically Osan, was in the 60's. There were no foreign girls to be seen. The Russians and FSUs came later; They are still in Korea, but my informers say there was so much interaction between them and military folks, who had clearances, which were revoked due to fraternization with Communist block girls, that some sort of understanding came about between the Korean Government and the US that the Russians girls were moved out away from the bars in front of the military bases. They are still in Korea, in "Glass Houses" by the train stations and in other bars where mostly Koreans and other foreigners go. It seems to me that in areas out of Seoul, there area mostly Filipino Girls in the bars. The Korean economy improved so much that Korean girls often get higher paying jobs. Those more into the present bar scene can fill in the blanks. (The places I go in Seoul have no girls,(or boys). Just old folks and schoolteachers!)

Re: What is your opinion on the bar girls and owners in Korea?
I agree with ya, but also when the girls came from the PI, and Russia areas, the guys flocked to them and the Koreans i knew felt left out...And they made no money in the clubs...
sad so sad...I think als that is part of what ruined the clubs.. |

Re: What is your opinion on the bar girls and owners in Korea?
I have a question (noticing your comment about GI's paying off a girls debt to the club). If a girl leaves a club (for whatever reason)....She is called a runaway. If she has a valid visa and passport that has not yet expired, is she really illegal as far as immigration is concerned?
Isnt it illegal to pay off a womans contract to a club? Isnt that considered to be a form of human trafficking? So what is the legal problem with her just walking out to be who she wants to be with (intentions of marriage, for example). If a girl leaves a club, do the owners have any right to try to find her and bring her back, and does her "promoter" have any rights to find and attempt to return her (even by physical force)? If a girl leaves a club to get married, is she illegal until she gets married? |

WELCOME BACK, TONYSAN!
Ain't seen ya for a while! I remember your life experiences a while back. I'll not attempt to be a Korean lawyer and answer your questions. As beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so also is what is legal under certain circumstances. You may want to look up a real Korean lawyer. I think the lady lawyer that advertises in the Army paper might be a good one. PM me if you have other questions. Hope you are doing well. |
