The Associated Press is reporting that Al-Zarqawi may be dead! This is the leader of Al Qaida in Iraq and actually performed some of the beheadings that we saw on TV.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces sealed off a house in the northern city of Mosul where eight suspected al-Qaida members died in a gunfight — some by their own hand to avoid capture. A U.S. official said Sunday that efforts were under way to determine if terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was among the dead.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Family members of Jordanian-born al Qaeda in Iraq chief Abu Musab al-Zarqawi have renounced the terror leader, telling King Abdullah II on Sunday that they would "sever links with him until doomsday

Al-Zarqawi, whose real name is Ahmed Fadheel Nazzal al-Khalayleh, claimed responsibility for the November 9 deadly attacks on three Amman hotels, which killed 60 people

The statement is a serious blow to al-Zarqawi, who will no longer enjoy the protection of his tribe and whose family members may seek to kill him.

"If my son was a terrorist, I wouldn't hesitate to kill him," said Mousa al-Khalayleh, who said he spoke on behalf of the tribe. "This is the slogan raised by the tribe as of this moment."
