The focus of my NY Times archive search recently has been the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. However, nothing much was going on (at least in the press) about that in April --- so I have started looking at other years, because I still have 65 articles left on my monthly subscription...
Today, I bring tid bits from the post-Park Chung Hee 1979 assassination and lead up to the Kwangju Massacre - (one of the key issues in the US-SK relationship). As with other newspaper tid bits I bring, I don't offer this as an statement about the events covered. I offer them simply as news of that day... ![]() ![]() |
