For those of you familiar with the Kwangju Massacre and how Korean society has thought about it (in relation to giving (partial) blame for it to the US in Korea) --- there is an interesting note in this 1960 article about USFK releasing a ROK military unit from its command to aid in riot suppression.
![]() ![]() Note: One of the justifications for blaming the US in Korea (in part) for the Kwangju Massacre has always been the fact the US released some Korean units sent to Kwangju from USFK command. (— It has also been a long-standing habit of some people to claim or imply that the special forces unit that was involved in the initial and worse days of bloodshed in Kwangju were under the USFK command structure, but that is not true.) ![]() ![]() Last edited by usinkorea : 04-21-2007 at 07:44 PM. |
