What is the best CD/DVD to learn Korean?

There are hundreds of DVDs to help learn Korean. Has anyone found is really good ones? Also, has anyone found any good methods of learning Korean?

Mike

Ya gotta get immersed in it! Take the free courses on Base or Post in reading and writing, then go do it! No need to waste money on tapes or CD's- money WON"T buy proficiency. There are so many Koreans dying to have an English speaker as a friend, and teaching each other works better than anything I know. (For correct usage, a college student is best.)

I agree with Mr. Joe. Most of the effectiveness of learning a language is your own effort. I never spent a penny on tapes, courses (except in college; a required elective), DVD's, etc.

My biggest advantage is living here so long, but I found that mastering the very basics such as reading/writing (even though I had no idea what most things meant) to be a key. In time, as you read Korean characters here and there and hear the language being spoken everywhere, you start putting 2 & 2 together; pick things up.

That plus having many Korean friends also helped a lot; especially girlfriends.

That's just my theory and experience. Even after all these years of study, I'd probably only be at a junior high level of speaking. I mean I can be spotted easily by any native speaker as we can spot immigrant Korean/Americans.

I agree that CDs are a waste of money. I have purchase a couple and I've learned more from talking to Koreans that I could ever learn from the CDs.

Mike; I was expecting that reply! There used to be a Spoken Korean language course free from the school at Monterey. Ask the education office to order you one if it still exists. If you are not in school, you need to be. All that free money, so little time. Best idea for you-find a Korean girl in your neighborhood!

I noticed there were quite a number of Koreans in Hawaii; store and restaurant owners...a small community. Maybe you should just hang out there and make some friends. I think they'll all be impressed (well, except maybe the Korean guys in their late teens to early 20's).

Mr. Joe has a good point by finding yourself a Korean girl, but it could backfire. She could just be interested in you for trying to learn English.

애 디, you have to know Mike better! He knows when I say "find a Korean girl", it means for the purpose of mutual studying! Any 공 부 beyond 한 글 is purely coincidental! And by now he knows where the Koreans 행 in 호 노 루 루 !!
I investigated that myself, once upon a time. He could study 충 극 말, also, over there! (This might encourage him to learn to read! )
