I noticed Koreans use this number system usually when it comes to age, exercising, or counting simple things.

But when it comes to larger numbers and, especially, money, it's this numbering system:

1 = Ill
2 = Ee
3 = Sahm
4 = Sah
5 = Ohh
6 = Yuuk
7 = Chil
8 = Pahl
9 = Guu
10 = Shib
...
100 = Beck (or Paek, but it's actually a strong B sound)
...
1,000 = Cheon
...
(read my other post on Numbers )

I don't know what the story of why there's only 1-99 in Hangul.
Can anyone shed some light?
