How do I add Korean into my IE browser?
Anyone know the best way to get Korean to show up in my browser? I tried Microsoft's webpage, but couldn't find it. I want to download it so I can start reading and eventually typing. I think typing may be a great way to learn Hangul.

If you're on XP, go to your Control Panel and look in the Regional and Language Options. Go to the Languages tab and, first, make sure you have the East Asian languages installed. Then look up to the Details button. In there you can simply remove all the crap you don't want and just put in Korean Input System. The "crap" (no pun intended) I'm referring to is the Japanese, Chinese, Speech Recognition, Handwriting Recognition, etc.

Thanks guys!
As a warning for those with limited hard drive space the language packs Eddie is referring to takes 230 MB of disk space. That is for all of the languages.

Caveat
You will envitably see extraneous characters on some web pages after you make the changes. This char are from IE's inability to distinguish between english and other languages. You may be able to resolve this by selecting VIEW/Encoding/ and ensuring Western European is set to Windows.

I have had that intemittent character problem for a while. There are two
Western European choices. I still have the problem on "Western European ISO", so I am now switching to "Western European" on your advice. Go for it, guys! Pronunciation will improve tremendously over trying to figure out how to say Suweon or Dongducheon etc. or Onyourhorseamigo! Looking at that last word reminds me, maybe you had better NOTremove Spanish if you ever expect to go back to live in the U.S.! |

Re: How do I add Korean into my IE browser?
Somewhere I posted the letters that equate to our characters on the typewriter. PM me if you are in Seoul any time and I can show you where to get new keyboards for $6 & up
with Hangul/English. |
