Re: Why do you have no interested in Korean ?
Quote:
I use to participate in Chinese forums. I try to convince the Chinese that it is most arrogant to live in Tibet without bothering to learn Tibetan. I am not successful. But in a way this is good for us from small nations. Because we usually get a much better treatment than people from superpowers. Besides,as we have already learned a foreign language, it is easier for us to learn another. I read somewhere that on the international labour market it is taken for granted that you can speak English. But the ability to speak a second language is an important advantage. This usually makes monolingual English speakers less attractive than others. |

Out of curiosity, Yuebaili doesn't seem to sound Swedish. I looked around a bit, and I saw that you indeed did some Chinese forums, in Chinese, actually!
We will attempt to live up to your expectations of us.

Re: Why do you have no interested in Korean ?
Yes that was me at Indian Defense Forum..
After I wrote that, I found that Chinese forums (at least Tianya) have become a lot more liberal than some years ago. So now I spend a lot of time discussing at Tianya. Among other things I discuss the Chinese attitude towards Koreans. It is so intolerant. I think we Westerners would call it racism. Many of my posts are deleted. But most of them are not. And as you have noticed I can be rather provocative. (No hard feelings though.) I could never imagine that I would be banned from the IDF. Probably because I criticised their English. Of course as a non native English speaker I do not have the natural authority to do so. But that was a reaction agaist the Indian behaviour towards Chinese forumites who did their best to express themselves in English although it often was difficult to understand what they wanted to say. Many of them wrote that they hoped to improve their English by participating. They were told to stay away and not come back before they could express themselves. So I wrote something like "your English is not exactly excellent either". That was my last post. |

I see. Intolerance and dislike and even racism is present and available in the back of everyones mind, and sometimes can show itself in a moment of anger or misunderstanding. Ignorance and poor understanding of the other person's native language enhances ones tendency to expose oneself. If everyone could express things so that all could understand, it would be great!
We still would not necessarily agree, but it would be good to at least see the other persons viiewpoint clearly. Too bad about that Tower of Babel, scrambling of languages thing! Can we blame the Iraquis? |
