What do you think about the Koreans on Lost?
The Chosun Ilbo produced a report that the Koreans on Lost are not shown in a good light. The report produces a few quotes of how Koreans in America hate black people.

When it is all said and done, he does what is right! He may seem wrong by what he is doing, but if you were the only person on an Island that could not comminucate by talking, how would you feel?
He is a good guy and does what needs to be done. BTW i LOVE the show!!

as a fan of the show, i you have to look at it another way, he was part of the korean mob, and did his best to not kill anyone... he was sent to drive a man ot assiant someone who had screwed up for his wifes father (who is a mob boss) he ends of beating the assisan to the guy and basically kicking his ass to save his life.
if you look at the underlining he is a man trying to prove that hes worth his wife who he loves dearly and she loves him and had almost left him but he had show her his caring nature. if you want to look at a show that doesn't show koreans in a good light watch gilmore girls. it shows all korean americans as tight money people, ultra religuos. and they hide there real life from there parents. i still like the show i just didn't like how they showed koreans on it. even more because the youngest korean (who is 16-22 though the show) (best friend to the daughter who shares the lead roll) is played by a 32 year old japanese woman! |

I love that show! I can't wait to watch it this week!
The Jin character was doomed from the beginning no matter what kind of person he played. People would have complained anyway saying "Korean men are not like that! No way!" I don't know what all the big fuss is about, really. It's like that 007 film and how the Korean people picked out the tiniest detail and criticized it. In the beginning, Jin would have appeared as a strange or "typical" (whatever that means) Korean man and given the viewers the impression "Are all Korean men like that?" But as the show went on, you begin to see why Jin is the way he is and his reasons for it...you begin to see Jin as a "person" and not a "Korean". That's what the show is all about. We all got mistaken impressions of all the characters in the beginning, but everything unravels along the way with all their flashbacks. The reason for his..."typical" exagerrated character in the beginning was to get the viewers' attention...and the writers sure did do a good job of it. |
