The original email was from Kadena, and the followup messages went to a MSgt in our office. I can ask for clarification later in terms of the official source, but the MSgt isn't in right now PS. If this case was FOUO as you say, how did you get the pictures and how was the story spread around? If you use simple logic in this case, you can pretty much figure out what the deal is. |

Anyhow, I followed up for you chuck, the original story came out with a OSI detachment number, it didn't have any classification portion markings on it. If you looked up the detachment, you would find that it didn't exist. Basically the original report was forged/made up.

How i got the pics? I am the BN standards/saftey NCO. This came from much higher than I, and sent down thru the channels from much higher than our BDE commander. So that is how I got the pics. Also this was through offical korea.mil address The story is not spread around either, to the point of what you are talking about. Either way i hope you are correct and that is not a Soldier.

This tactic was used by Hearst and a few other newspaper types in the late 1880's and so on> at least they're are credited for this type of journalism. Oddly enough it is called 'yellow journalism' (nothing to do with race here). Since it is to bring about emotion/fear/hatred/buffoonery, etc. Samual Adams could even be included in this catagory, though the term was invented during his writings.
