Wolfpack Diary 2002-3
You know what they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun”, well the past few days was no different. We had a great time, but now it was time to drop my sister off at Incheon for a flight back to NYC. She had to go back to work. Mom, on the other hand did not. It’s nice being retired. The three of us drove back to Kunsan with Father-in-laws car intact, having left in the valet lot most of the time there, since we left the driving to ‘Ki Sa Nim’. You might know him by his more common name, “Adashi, A-Town, ppoli ppoli”. Ki Sa Nim is the polite term used for ‘driver’. Try using it next time you take a taxi. You’ll be surprised how well you are treated!!
Once back in Kunsan, we did some laundry. Like you want to hear about that. Smile. We had to because we had to pick up my mother-in-law and head to a place just past the back gate at the base. You may know this area as it shares the runway and is more commonly known as the Gunsan Airport. We were finally, after 3+ years, were going on our honeymoon…to Jeju Island! Our mothers were coming along as chaperones, though.

Wolfpack Diary 2002-3
The thing I remember most about our week in Jeju, aside from doing all the driving…is that the island has 4or 5 distinctive areas. That’s how we broke up the itinerary of sight-seeing and things we did. We picked out all of the things we all wanted to do, and then depending on its location it was scheduled together with things nearby on the same day.
There was the southwestern portion in which we did a submarine-sea life tour where we watched the ocean’s inhabitants from a ‘yellow submarine’ underwater. We were able to see all sorts of fish and marine life. A guy even came out in a wetsuit and put some food out so we could watch them eat. We did a museum tour of music and TV from the Asians point of view, the exact name escapes me. There are a lot of American ties there. On another day, we were casual as we hiked up, and then back down, the biggest mountain on the island. It was very beautiful. It is a tourist stop for sure. Of course, back at the hotel, I believe we were there just past prime season, but we still slept on the floor like Koreans do. Our mothers got the bedroom with the beds. Did we continue experimenting with our dining choices. You bet. The various meals and restaurants were as much a part of the honeymoon/vacation as anything was. Mom still couldn’t quite handle the chopsticks, but she was making a game of it. There was a kitchenette in the hotel suite, so we also prepared a few of our own meals.
