I think he meant decent. ( descent is what an airplane does before landing...)
![]() The larger hotels have massage rooms that are "Regulated". A good massage can be had in every village and town. Get references. Chuck is right about their being off limits. Even street vendor stalls that serve food under a tent canopy are off limits, as well as barber shops. We have to protect our young troops from food poisioning, scalp lesions, and evils of all sorts. But if you are a school teacher, or other than a government employee, you can use your own judgement. Even civilian employees can stay out late, after curfew, but are encouraged not to. Don't worry you can still enjoy Korea! Last edited by Mr. Joe : 08-01-2007 at 09:50 PM. |

You'll find a way! So much to see, so little time... Forget the Xbox, and the video games- get out and ride a bus to the end --- just to see where it goes!
Don't forget the bus number so you can get back! Always have a Korean write down where you live and where you want to go in Korean. Keep that in your wallet and you'll be fine. There is a phone # you can dial that will get you assistance in English. I'll get it tomorrow. We have Kunsan experts on this forum, most of them repeat offenders! I mean they have been to Kunsan 3 or more times! They will give you more information than you will ever need. Welcome. |

I spoke of a phone number in Korea that is universally available for translation assistance, by the Better Business Bureau.
The number is 1588-5644 and should work anywhere in Korea. Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Japanese. There are 17 languages in all, staffed by volunteers. Good luck on getting one when you need them. Hope you never do. A pocket Korean dictionary is best. |

I enjoy Korea Airlines, and often the price is right.
They have a direct non-stop from Las Vegas, where I have a house and a daughter. Singapore Airlines is popular. Probably you can get some options from your travel agent. I would put the questions to the "Spouses in Korea Forum" regarding a fiancee visit. They will give you more answers than you can handle. There are those who would not recommend fiancee visits, stating the old "Why bring a sandwich to a picnic" adage. I guess I must say that I have reservations myself. Let's just say she may not feel comfortable among so many beautiful women. You will both have to be strong to survive the competition. Yes, I am prejudiced, and have been married to the same Korean for 46 years. It is not easy for anyone, but I am giving you a warning. There are thin, knockout Filipino and Korean girls all over the place. Some good, some not so good. Just in case you didn't know. I know I will get some criticism for explaining this, but since you have some European and Asian travel experience you will understand what I'm saying. Re: Good place for a descent massage....?
Lots of places to get massages in korea. It depends on exactly what kind of massage you want. Assuming you are talking about a legitimate massage, if you mean a full body massage, I have stayed in a few hotels while travelling though Korea that offered those services. Especially if the hotel is traditional with bath house services. Though technically I suppose the bath house may be off limits. Most barber shops offer neck, shoulder and arm massages, though a Korean barber shop was off limits last I heard due to illigitimate practices in many. Many of the older Korean women are schooled in massage giving. If you need a good neck and shoulder massage some of the older bar ajima's give decent ones. The old ajima that used to be behind the bar in the a town stereo club gave very good neck and shoulder massages. That was a while back. Look around, ask, you'll find somewhere to get it.
