Cable TV

Is there cable TV in the dorms? I know that we are limited to AFN channels, but when I was in Japan, on base we had several AFN channels (AFN Atlantic, Pacific, Korea, Spectrum, Sports and a few other channels... and of course the Commander's Access Channel.) Is there the same selection at Kunsan, or do you only get AFN Korea there? I'm also thinking about getting a SlingBox and setting it up here to get the current season of shows. Has anyone had problems with getting SlingBox service there? I know they blocked Vonage, so just want to make sure before I end up wasting money.

Re: Cable TV

I know at benjo heights you had the option for additional cable channels such as HBO, etc.... I don't see why you couldn't in the dorms.
I'm not really sure who to talk to about that though. I'd go with the Comm Squadron. 782-2666

Cool Re: Cable TV

MWR does the cable at Yongsan, I believe. Probably at other locations too.

Re: Cable TV

Disclaimers up front...I don't live in the dorms and I live at Osan.

However, LG Dacom handles internet for both dorms and on base housing. On thier website (below) it states it provides service for Kunsan. I have slingbox and it works fine. Get the fastest service they offer. As for cable, LG doesn't provide cable as part of it's bundled service down in Kunsan. I wouldn't get it anyway. The extended stuff is crap.

It's HBO, Cinemax and Stars Asia and all of it's secondary channels that come w/ the package. Basically most of what is on there is stuff you probably don't want to watch. Lots of 80's and obscure movies. Occasionally they'll play something new. As for HBO mini-series or shows, they're old. BL: not the same channels or line up of stateside programming. Cinemax for example seldomly plays movies, but instead plays TV shows.

Save your money.

Here's the link and good luck. I'd email someone in your gaining unit living in the dorms. If you don't know anyone, just get on global and search for your new office symbol/squadron and send someone an email. Your sponsor should hook you up.

Nahhhhh MWR by name really isn't on Air Force Bases unless there's a large number of Air Force folks around. They typically hang with the army. At least from what I've seen.

We have Air Force Services. And they pretty much suck here. They just want $$$$$

Re: Cable TV

Yes there is cable in the dorms. All AFNs, and CNN. You can get additional channels like HBO, but I found the basic cable sufficient and for the price that MWR charged was no worth it. A friend of mine had a cable package, but didn't get some of the channels he was paying for...constant battle with MWR every month.
