In general, cleaning hallways, dayroom or breakroom, and community kitchen, showers, toilets. Officers can be as trashy as enlisted men in these areas, and it is often a disgusting thing, but needs to be done. In the real world, maids are hired for that, but this is Kunsan we are speaking of.

Re: bay orderly for officers dorms?
I think people should take care of their own dorm. This would give residents more sense of ownership and help keep the dorms clean. I don't see why cleanliness wouldn't be both an enlisted and officer responsibility. I also don't see why the "military isn't a democracy" comment was made. I'm sure we all do what is expected of us when asked. I know there are customs and courtesies, but where does it say that the enlisted force should be the officer corp's maids?

I can't explain why airmen are detailed to do bay orderly for any dorms at Kunsan. I'm in Seoul; I can only speculate about their particular circumstances. In my experience, there is often no shortage of airmen who are given non-judicial punishment or are performing "Extra duty" for some local offense, rather than be courts-martialed and lose stripes. I would hope these are the ones chosen for the bay orderly detail. The local Commander has the authority in such a case.
Do I hear any complaints from any bay orderly actually invoved? No one else really gets a vote... |

Re: bay orderly for officers dorms?
bay ho is created by a schedule, in which most likely every airman on base will do at least one week during their tour......
The reg says that if the airmen are done with the airmen dorms, they can be tasked to work on NCO/O dorms. So ya. |

Re: bay orderly for officers dorms?
The Airmen already live in terrible dorms, and on top of that they can be tasked to clean officer and NCO dorms? I can't say I agree with that at all, and I live in the NCO dorms.

Re: bay orderly for officers dorms?
Let me set the record straight. The BO's you are referring to were there at the request of the dorm manager to help him remove years of accumlated build up in a couple of storage rooms ie...old boxes, furniture etc. Yes the stuff was thrown out but it wasn't like they were there cleaning the halls and scrubbing toilets. Like other posts said before, it was completely within 8 FWI and truthfully it wasn't that big of deal.

Thanks, OAHUONE. Welcome to the forum. Sometimes we jump to conclusions! If everyone agreed, it wouldn't leave much to discuss on a forum!
