he should have been in that movie, with his baseball hat turned backwards, taking on truckers in arm rasslin contests! LOL The reason say that is because of a story that a guy named Leo Fong once told me. Leo trained with Bruce Lee for about 5 years or so, and was instrumental in getting Bruce started on weight training, as Leo himself was pretty big for a chinese guy.
Anyway, Leo said one of the physical assets that Bruce was truly proud of in himself was his forearm strength. Bruce figured he was probably one of the strongest men on earth with his forearms. So, one day, as Leo tells it, Bruce challenged him to an arm wrestling match. But, they way they did it was kind of like a game some kids play in grade school where you lock hands and place your lead foot on the either side of your opponents for balance, and you use solely wrist and forearm to win. Leo said that when they began, he actually held Bruce. He said he couldn't budge him, but Bruce couldn't budge him (Leo) either. This made Bruce a little miffed. So, he went home that day, and 24 hours laters, the very next day, he saw Leo again, and again, challenged him to a re-match. Leo told me he figured there would be no difference and induldged Bruce. On the word go, Leo said that Bruce almost tore his arm off!! He was shocked! He asked Bruce how he managed to get such an incredible boost to his forearm strength in just one day. Guess what? Bruce went home, and worked on his forearms almost all night and day before he saw Leo again! Pretty determined! Speaking of forearm training, have any of you seen this website http://www.ironmind.com it is primarily for power lifters, but there is a whole section dedicated to forearm training, most notably sets of hand grips called "Captains of Crush" These things are no joke. They go up in level from beginner to a Level 4 which only two people in the whole world have been able to completely close together. I have a level 2 and can close it a few times in one session, but it is very hard! Imagine if Bruce Lee had these things!
