Taijutsu near Osan

Are there any Taijutsu training groups near Osan? If so, please let me know. I'll be there in October and I would like to get back into training. If there aren't any...does anyone have any suggestions for training opportunities near Osan? I would really like to stay away from any type of sport arts...not that I don't like them at all...I just don't feel like competing in any way, shape, or form. Tai Chi or any type of soft/internal/whatever-label-you-want-to-put-on-it art that has weapons would be really cool. I'm not much of a kicker either, but I do like everything else.

Thanks!
Eddie

Hey Eddie welcome to the forum. Wow Taijutsu ? I haven't heard that art in awhile. Ninja style fighting... A lot of that art was adopted by Aikido, Judo, and Karate...you must be pretty badass?
Suggestions near Osan AB.... don't know but they do have some jiu-jitsu teams in camp humphreys.
In Yongsan they have an Aikido and Jiu-Jitsu Class at Trent Gym. Downtown Seoul is your best bet for that that art.

Try Jum Shun Kwon, they teach:

dakentaijutsu (striking methods)
koppojutsu (bone attacks)
koshijutsu (muscle attacks)
jutaijutsu (grappling methods)
nage (throws)
hajutsu (escapes)
gyakuwaza (locks and controls)
shimewaza (chokes)

Badass? Hmmmm…maybe when I was younger, quicker, stronger, and more likely to get into bar fights for the practice ;-) I’ll probably get round house kicked by Chuck Norris for saying this, but I don’t think any one art can make anyone a badass more than any other art. Most fighters have their “staple” moves that they fall back on, no matter what the situation is. I think the trick is to pick an art, learn the basics VERY WELL, and then practice over and over until you can do them in your sleep. Once that is internalized, almost anyone can be a badass because when they get into a situation, their bodies will take over. The only real factors at that point are usually ones that you can’t control anyway, and also your level of determination. And yeah, that’s a really broad statement that can be picked apart by everyone in the forum, but generally it holds true.
I practice and try to learn everything about my art now just because I enjoy the learning aspect of it. I’d love to call myself an artist one day, but right now I’m still a practitioner…so I keep learning more diverse things and trying to put it all together. If it comes down to a scrap, though, I’m going to fall back on my 7 or 8 things that I really know. Buying the next round of drinks, apologizing, or throwing a ninja smoke bomb and running are usually my first three options  I’m getting way too old to be bar fighting over something stupid anyway. So, yeah, I can hold my own if I need to, but I’d be willing to bet that anyone that reads this part of the forum can hold their own just as well.
Thanks for the rest of the info too! I’ll check into the Jum Shun Kwon. I don’t know much about it, but if they teach all that, then I’d like to check it out just to get back in shape. Good luck too with your art. Looks like you’ve picked a pretty good one, and I’m sure you guys get lots of good hands on practice.
By the way, I only live about an hour from Corpus Christi and we go down there a few times a year. The Texas aquarium down there rocks! Anyway, I’m rambling, so I’ll jump off here. Thanks again, and I’ll see ya out there!
Eddie

I agree with the age thing, I'm 37 physically but my mind tells me I'm still 20, my heart agrees with my mind.
Bruce Lee said it best.....Structured martial arts lacks the ability to adapt. I'm freestyle wrestling, shootfighter, jiu-jitsu, karate, and taekwondo myself, and just started improving my stand up game with boxing.
Since you are not so far from me, come down to Corpus Christi on the 20th of May for the Royce Gracie Fightfest, Butterbean will be the main event.

Call me bro......... 361-563-1515 Charlie

I'll give you a call when I get back in town. I'm out in Vegas right now doing a little work and a whole lot of play...all on uncle Sam's dime. Gotta love it!

Hello Eddie, I teach Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do and very realistic street self defense. I am fully certified to teach Jeet Kune Do. We also have a great Brazilian Jiu Jitsu group here as well! Look us up when you get in country!

Cool! I'm always up for something different. Realistic street self defense is right up my alley...no pun intended. Do you guys do any weapons training?

Sounds cool man! I'm still away from San Antonio right now, so I'll write more when I get back. I've done a lot of weapons training and some weapons defense, so it should be cool to see what we can come up with. What size group to do you have there?
