Concurrent travel?

Does anyone know if they are currently doing concurrent travel for families with command sponsorship?

I'm trying to figure out all the logistics of this PCS. Thanks in advance.

Re: Concurrent travel?

Ginger, I'm not stationed in Korea yet (will be there later this year) but I've been doing a lot of research on this. I heard they stopped the concurrent travel for dependents for the most part. They do allow dependents to travel with you if you have a local address there for them to stay... i.e., a signed lease or if you have family there already, you can use their local address. The problem is that you can't sign a lease unless the housing office approves of the place first. Good luck.

Re: Concurrent travel?

They just opened the new tower here. I imagine(if you choose to live on base) there is no problem getting right into one of these new apartments.

Leave your vehicle at home(unless it's an older runaround) and buy a hoopdy here.

Don't pack too much and ship your spare bedroom furniture. Small rooms.

The COLA here went WAY down just this week! When we first got here 2005, O-5 = $1100+ a month........we're down to $583.20! The bottom 'just' dropped out, it's been pretty good for three years.

Be patient....it is "the land of the not quite right!"

Re: Concurrent travel?

Small rooms in the new towers? For some reason I've been thinking the new housing is pretty big.

Most likely we will live in town.

Thanks for all the help!

Re: Concurrent travel?

Compared to Mustang village, the apartments are bigger in some ways. The kitchen/livingroom, are quite a bit larger. The bedrooms are the same pretty much. You won't have to worry anymore about Mustang housing as it is going away.

The towers are nice. Clean, for now, and the elevator is a big plus for anyone whoever lived on the third floor at Mustang!! We opted to be on base due to the job and school. If you go to the new tower ask for an apartment in the rear away from the street so you won't have to put up with the drunks walking back from town at 1-2AM.

Parking at Osan is horrible and will only get worse. Absolutely no planning involved with the expansion. Constant construction and road work.

Re: Concurrent travel?

We were supposed to be approved for concurrent travel, however due to our passports/visas taking forever to come in... we didn't get to fly together. I got here 3 weeks after my husband left. BUT, if we'd had them already, then yes, we could've come at the same time.. and we are CS.
