TMO Shipment times
How long does it take TMO shipments to arrive in Korea. I know this can vary based on where the shipment is originating, but I am just trying to get a rough idea how long it will take. (Shipment will be coming from the east coast.. McGuire AFB, NJ). Due to some outdated TMO regs, I am being forced to send a HHG shipment instead of unaccompanied baggage. According to TMO here, anything larger than a 19 inch TV must be shipped as HHG.. doesn't matter if it's a flat screen or an old (tube) TV. (I was trying to ship a 26" flat screen).

Re: TMO Shipment times
The regs really are not outdated. You are better off having your TV sent as household goods (Code 4). Hold or unaccompanied baggage is sent in the AMC system so your belonging are handled by military guys, working on the weekend, during night shift while all their buddies are partying and the new movie just came out and under little supervision. Get the idea????
It is best to ship your flat screens by surface. It will take about 60 days to get there...after all it is going by boat...slow boat to China...well, it will be making a stop off in Korea. An added benefit to going surface is that you can ship 10% of your allowance. Another thing you can take advantage of...mail some of your things to Korea. Have the postal employee write down the weight on the receipt, and bring it to your TMO so that they can reimburse you the money. I personally know this as fact as I work TMO. |

My HHG were shipped on July 29th and will be delivered on September 25th.
I can't wait to get off the loaner furniture!

Re: TMO Shipment times
I just shipped my 42" plasma in HHG and it got here in 4 weeks. I had a 5 week TDY prior to my PCS here to Osan and my car and HHG were here before me! I shipped from eastcoast (NC area) and there wasn't a problem. Good Luck!
