Welcome! I'm trying to get a separate area on the forum for Camp Casey and Camp Red Cloud and all other places in Area I. This should happen soon.
Right now it is just a thread. I'd like to recruit you to be our eyes and ears to write up the happenings up North. Talk to you later! (P.S. I am both Retired AF andCivilian, in Yongsan.) |

Re: Hi from Camp Casey!
Hello to the person and wife who are coming into country.
There is a processing center in YongSan. There you will get plenty of info, and be put in touch with people from the unit you will be going to. Then, you should have someone from your unit, a unit sponsor, who will take you under his/her wings, and they will have all the info that you should need, in getting settled into housing off-post. In fact, there should be help in family housing at Cp. Casey. That will include someone to go with you to inspect the housing that you will be renting, and helping in making sure the lease is up to U.S. Gov't standards. It has been so many years since I have lived in the Cp. Casey (DongDuChon) area, that I know much has changed. Perhaps someone else on this thread will be able to help you much more than I can, especially with the particulars of the area. Rely on your chain of command. They have others in the same status as yourself. They will be able to work the housing, and car, and liscensing, all of those kinds of things. God bless while you and your spouse are here. Have a good tour. |

Re: Hi from Camp Casey!
Koreahiker here again.
Sorry about that oversight. I read right over the fact that both you and your wife are in the military. So, that should even make it easier, as both of you will have sponsors. They should get in touch with you as soon as you arrive. If you do have sponsors, and they know when and where you will be arriving, it would not surprise me if both of them were on hand to greet you at the airport. Just a sidelight. It is really wet right now. Parts of S. Korea had severe flooding last week, and we are still digging out from that. Now, there is another typhoon that is passing over us, as I type. We are not getting much in the way of wind, but the flooding will be extensive, as we are still sopped from last week. And the Camp Casey area was one of the military bases that was affected. I'm watching on the tv right now, and going over the Han River, which hyou will see, probably drive by, has several double-decker bridges. Well, the lower deck is under water. Where we will put all this typhoon's water is anyone's guess. Wish I had better particular info to give you. It has been so long since I have been stationed there. |
