Just got my assignment...I am going to Yong San, but I don't know exactly who I will be working for. My assignment rip states OL Q00 AFELM. Can anyone fill me in on what I will be doing? I would really appreciate it. I am a E-5 in the Air Force. Also, any info. anyone can give me on Yong San would be great (where will I live, can I bring a car, etc.).

My assignment instructions state - "Parachute Pay Authorized.". Does this mean I will be going to "Jump School"?

Hey man...welcome to the site! I know this is going to sound a bit flippant, and I don't mean for it to, but check with your MPF first. We try not to get too much into work stuff here because of OPSEC. Ask all you want about stuff to do, where you may live, and if you can bring your car, but stay away from the work stuff as much as possible. By the way...jump school sounds like a really cool opportunity! Anyway, have fun with the site, and we'll see ya around!

No offense taken. I have contacted my MPF several times. I started at the bottom of the chain and went to the top with no avail. The best way I can put it is we are at a isolated location and the MPF located at our main operating base doesn't even care to know we exist. Basically they are not very helpful. I understand exactly what you are saying about OPSEC, and me of all people should know since I am the unit's OPSEC Manager. I should have worded my question a little differently and took more time to think about what I was saying. Specifically I just want to know if I will be going to Yongsan Army Garrison. I keep getting contradicting information on whether or not I am located at Yongsan, but it's not a big deal.

Hmmmmm...your outbound assignments people should have some type of clue. Guess they all need to be fired :-) You might want to try calling assignments at Yongsan too. Maybe they can help a little more. You can always hit up VMPF with their Q&A section. It's not speedy, but they do help. Good luck with everything, and we'll see you over there! I get to Osan in Oct, so I'll check out all the bars before you get there :-)

You are EXTREMELY lucky because Yongsan is in Seoul and that garrison will not be around in a few years as everything is being moved to Camp Humphreys.

Doesn't AFELM mean Air Force Element? Are you an admin guy?

Again, you will have a great time at Yongsan as all of the great hot spots are just around the corner.
