Hello, my name is Marta and I would like to make contact with some families living on or off base. I am moving there next week, and I will have my baby in November, so I would like to know what to buy here in the states for the baby that I won't find in the BX.
Thanks in advance. Marta |

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
Welcome to Osan. The BX here is pretty good, I don't think you will have many problems. Just an FYI...if you are the active duty member there is a policy out that you will have to be off the penninsula before your 24th week. If you are a dependent...stay home until after the baby is born...you are better off. Either way, I hope that your transition to both the new baby and Osan goes smoothly. Welcome to the family.

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
I suggest as mentioned in the last post if you are a dependent have the baby in the US before comming here. Osan AB hospital does not have OB-GYN facilities.

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
Thanks to Dameeun and Gangster for writing back.
My husband will be a teacher at the High S., in Osan Air F. B., and of course I am dependent and we will be living off base. In England where we were first living (Lakenheath), they told me that the hospital in Seoul will see me (Army base), but I was just wondering of things to buy here in the states for the baby before I moved there.(furniture used or new, and supplies for the baby). Well thanks agai. M. |

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
Welcome to the site. Enjoy.
People have babies here all the time, Military and Dependants. That will not be a problem for you. 121 General Hospital in Yongsan will take care of you. You should not have any problem with furniture for you child the BX at Osan is nice and they also have a nice used store for stuff like that. Welcome to the site and enjoy.

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
You may also be able to be seen in a local hospital. There are several excellent hospitals in Korea.

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
Welcome!
There are also three Thrift Shops in Korea. You can see them here. There are usually some great items in there for new moms. The BXs in Korea are pretty big so you should not have a problem finding anything. The Osan BX is just a few years old and pretty big. If you are adventurous you can find some great items on the Korean economy very cheap.

Re: Americans in Osan Air F.Base.
Thanks to all of you for taking your time in writing me back.
I am civilian, and my husband is a teacher over the high S, and because of that the Hospital 121 won't see me, this is a new rule of this year, they will see just military dependents and that's all. They will see you in the hospital in Osan till you are 36 weeks pregnant, and then they will refer you to a Korean Hospital. I am deciding to go to Ajou University Hospital, they have an International services, and they are 40 minutes form Osan A.F.Base, all their Doctors and nurses speak English and were trained in the States. Have someone have any experience or heard of this Hospital before?. I want to also ask for a used crib, if someone have any idea, let me know. The crib that they have on base *osan* is $399 and I don't want to spend that kind of money. The thrift shop don't sell furniture. I went online, and nobody shipp furniture to an APO address. Well, I check my personal e-mail more often than this one. Please contact me with any info at. marta_hogen@hotmail.com or marta_escalona@hotmail.com Thanks a lot. marta. |
