Hello!

Hi, I am new here. I am half korean and dad was in the air force for 20 years. We spent a lot of time at Osan, and I loved it! I am married now and both Dh and I are hoping to get to Korea sometime soon. *crossing fingers and praying* I do not remember how I stumbled onto this site but I am sure glad!

Welcome to the forum, milgwimper! Your story sounds sort of similar to mine. My father was in the Army for 20 years straight...in Korea! He's probably the only soldier in military history (that I know of) to ever be stationed in one place for his entire military career. I got married and came back in Korea; going on 7 years now. Hope you catch up soon!

Wow 20 years in Korea! That is amazing! We only stayed there for 5 years, then Dad tried to get us assigned somewhere else, mainly because I oculdn't speak english! LOL lived in the south for a while then they sent us to Japan. It was really nice in Japan too, but we sure did make a lot of trips to Korea!

:) I am jealous that you are stationed here now! Congrats, I hope your wife is enjoying the tour. Well if you have been there for that long I am sure she does like the assignment. So far, no luck for us getting stationed there yet, but maybe sometime in the future. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Thanks Mike, for this wonderful site! It is really nice to read up on whats happening in Korea especially near Osan, since I spent a lot of time there.

Yes I have had the chance to explore that side of my heritage, and I can't wait to get back there soon! :) Mom won't let me forget! LOL unfortunately my fluency in speaking Korean has taken a dramatic nose dive. I can understand but cannot speak well. Currently I am taking a collge course in Korean, but so far it has been more reading/writing than speaking, but I am sure they will get there soon. :)
