new member, wife is in Camp Casey
hey everyone.
this forum is the best source of info of military life in Korea. my wife has been in Camp Casey for the last week and her tour is for a year(standard huh?) we are relatively new to military life as she completed Basic and AIT this past September, and is active duty army. we were trying to find out our communications options. right now we've been able to talk with phone cards and cell phones. she just got to her barracks and is wondering about internet service and voIPs. we were thinking about using skype. she had mentioned that everyone there uses vonage there. but from some of the other posts i'm assuming that vonage is getting block or something. what are you using? and what are you paying per month? thanks -V8 |

Re: new member, wife is in Camp Casey
I'm using Lingo and I pay $25 a month for the service. I think Vonage is the same price or less.

Welcome!
If you both have internet access and set a scheduled time, I would suggest Skype as it is free for computer-to-computer talks. They are also cheap when it comes to computer-to-phone chat. Good luck!

Your wife will have high speed internet in her room if she wishes to buy it and have it installed. I believe it is around $85 for the install then $40 ish a month. The modem comes with the install, should not have a problem. Skype is good but you both must have high speed internet. Just go get vonage or lingo same thing, just vonage is more known than lingo.

Re: new member, wife is in Camp Casey
i know we'll both need internet, i have high speed internet, and she has a laptop with wireless.
but is there high speed internet in the barracks? and it really includes the modem? we want to use skype because its free and want to get away from unnecessary expenses. sorry if i'm asking newbie questions, but some of these gov't site can get so bland... and so will i have to order the vonage or lingo here in the states and then ship the package to her in Korea? that's what she told me we'd have to do. or can she have it shipped there? thanks again Last edited by v8isme : 11-01-2006 at 03:38 PM. I ordered vonage, and had it sent to my wife in the states and she sent over here. Don't worry about asking questions, thats what we are here for!

Re: new member, wife is in Camp Casey
Are you planning on joining your wife in Korea or will she be staying by herself?
