New here, old to Korea
Hi all, I was stationed about 12 miles east of Osan AFB at a Hawk site around 9/76 to 9/77. I was a sentry dog handler at Alpha.
I wanted to introduce myself and ask if any of you have information as to this site or of Songton (osan). I have a lot if great memories and probably children there. hehe, just kidding about the children. I found my battery on Google Earth and it still looks to be in use. It was Alpha Battery 1st BN 2nd ADA, also known as "Direct hit Alpha". We were the only battery with a swimming pool. It would be great to talk to someone that I served with but any information would be fantastic. I know a lot of things have changed in Korea but some things stay the same. :-) Thanks in advance for your replies!! |

I was stationed on Kunsan AB and worked at a nearby Hawk site from around 4/76 to 6/77. I was a sentry dog handler at Bravo 1/44 in the 38th ADA Bde....aka "the Resort" as we were the only Battery in the 44th ADA BN billeted on an airbase with all of the great AF facilities etc. even though we lived in quonset huts away from the nice USAF dorms. I also have lots of great memories from that first tour and the statute of limitations has run out on most of the activities now. It was good to hear from a fellow sentry dog handler. They haven't had those for years now. Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing more of your posts. |
