Accompained Tour ?

Hi,everyone. My husband has just recieved orders to Osan in January. He is a senior airman. Does anyone know what the chance of him being able to get an accompained tour is ? He is deployed to Iraq right now but is filling out papers to try and get a accompained tour. Some people say that I will be able to go but some people say I won't. Does anyone know a senior airman or below that got take their family with them to Osan

Hmm.. I'm not sure, I'm new to all of this also. My husband is going to Camp Stanley in Mar08, we're just learning and TRYING to get a command sponsorship, however I've been told that it is hard to get and other's say it won't be a problem.. Good luck with whatever you do!

Re: Accompained Tour ?

Ladies go to the Non-Command sponsor board it will answer questions you may have. Osan and Stanley are Non sponsored areas unless you are a certain rank I think It's 04 and above

If we don't get a command sponsorship, I'm not going to go. Thank you though for the advice

You sound like you're giving up. Don't give up. It never hurts to put in the paper work and there are actually some benefits to being NCS. If your husband is an officer he's going to have a car so you won't have to deal with the one BIG disadvantage of being NCS. Anyways, just thought I'd send some encouragement your way.

I was just meaning if I don't get the sponsorship approved (we are putting in paperwork) then we won't go through me going without a sponsorship... Thanks Michelle :)

Camp Stanley is in Area 1 - only Bn Cdr and above and Command Sergeants Major can have POVs there. There are a few rare exceptions to this policy - but they are just that: rare.

Don't fall into the trap of assuming things are done the same way all across the peninsula. Area 1 is its own little world up there - and things are quite a bit different there compared to the other areas.

Oops my bad. Will read the post a little more carefully before I give advice next time. I didn't pay any attention to where she was going. Sorry.

Cool Re: Accompained Tour ?

Willie is right again!
Girl Racer can do as she pleases, and live where she pleases, but restrictions on the husbands job may be such that he may be working and may not be able to get home every night. Still, if you are not a spoiled American brat, and can put up with some hardships, you can come on over and do it! Base your decision on information you get from the unit where he is going. There is no excuse for not getting a sponsor there who has personal knowledge of the work situation. Stanley is in a populated area very near AG Red Cloud. Nice Apartments abound. Taxis and buses and Subways are cheap!
City life is much safer than in the US.
