Ex-Skivvy9'r Checking in
Hi, i just happened across this site when i was surfing and bored. i was stationed at Osan many years ago (1985) and find it fascinating to read about my old stomping grounds. i had many a good time in my year at osan and think of it often. i see some things haven't changed, including some of the clubs i used to hang out in. if anyone would like to ask me about the old days in songtan si, fire away.

Re: Ex-Skivvy9'r Checking in
Do they still sell the Yakimondu (or how ever its spelled) in the little carts in town? i used to love that stuff, all fried and greasy, after a long evening of drinking OB or Soju. My main hangouts were the Hilltop Club which was down the 2nd or 3rd main alley on the left. i also used to hang out in the golden gate club and the OB country bar downstairs both of which were on the main drag. the OB country bar was pretty rough in those days. the urinal used to clog real regularly and the pee would come rolling out into the floor by the bar. the mamasan would throw a bucket of water on the floor and mop it all into a drain. thats when you knew it was time to leave.
they were just getting "americanized" when i was there. they put it a wendys and were building a pizza hut when i left. they were also rebuilding most of the main drag with new modern style buildings. |

Yes alot has changed from those days, hilltop has been gone for years, believe it was above star wars club...It was down on the right side of yonchong alley on the right side of first intersecton.
Someone should take some pictures of the main drag as it is now..and post them... |

Re: Ex-Skivvy9'r Checking in
you're right about the hilltop. it was on the right going down yongchong alley. it was a 2nd floor club i'm pretty sure. i had a yobo for a while who worked there. her and i lived down yongchon alley.
i would be interested in seeing new pics of that area. i have some old 35mm shots taken during my stay there including my "brown bean" tour where we all dressed in gorilla masks and hawaiian shirts and tried to hit every bar in town. needless to say we didn't make it. i guess they've re-org'd the AF now and no longer have a Electronic Security Command. I haven't kept on top of that. I was in ESC for a while and AFCC for a while. my job in korea was by far the most interesting of my career. nuff said. |
