i am not a GI, but somehow ended up here. thought this was an interesting site to join, and maybe i could make some good friends here.
lived in north andover, ma. while attending brooks school(anyone from brooks?) and newton for boston college, class of '89. any eagles out there? i operate a medium size air cargo agency business in seoul. life is pretty boring, but do enjoy rounds and rounds of golf. i could take anyone who wants to play golf to a nice private club called jade palace in choonchun(www.jadepalace.co.kr). i know that it aint easy and cheap playing golf in korea, but if you are willing to invest your time and money while enjoying good rounds of golf, please let me know. on the other hand, i wouldn't mind being invited to your nice and economical golf courses on the base(s). good to get in touch with you all. will try to stop by regularly to hang out here. looking forward to spicing up my life a bit through meeting some good people here. |

Re: Waz up, everyone!
Greetings. Sounds like you are in a great position to be able to enjoy many of the good things the ROK has to show. Professional in Korea, stuck playing golf at a Korean club all of the time, yeah I can see how you could get bored. Seriously, a rut is a rut. Welcome to this forum and take a trip south to Songtan over a weekend and hang out. Many good hotels in the town. There are a few new ones in the last ten years but the YongChon used to be one of the better places, easy to find, a couple stumbles off the main drag.

Re: Waz up, everyone!
Welcome to the site!
It would definately be to your benefit to make friends with some military guys. The golf course on base are much cheaper than in Korea. By the way I am from Massachusetts. Fairhaven is my hometown near New Bedford.

Re: Waz up, everyone!
Don't mistake my dry sense of humor for being offended. Sounds like you have the opportunity of a lifetime to enjoy a great country, take full advantage. How long have you been in country now? There are a lot of things to see in Korea if you can get time away from the company and having a Korean friend to show you around can make for many good experiences. As you may or may not know, about thirty clicks south of Seoul you can find Osan Air base and not far from it, the Camp Humphries area. There are many military folks and also many non-military ex-pats around these places. It is a good place to get to know some folks and hang out. You will find this forum is full of people to give you ideas about things you can do here, also many who are currently in country that you could probably meet up with. I'm presently out of the country though I plan to return in the near future.
