Spouse coming to Yongsan will need friends!

Hi everyone - my AF husband just got orders for us to move to Yongsan the end of June. We are very excited about the assignment, but I will need friends to hang out with! We do not have children, so it would be great to meet other childless spouses to hang out with (shopping, hiking, working out, etc) while the hubbys are at work. Or maybe even wives with children in school who can hang out during the day. I hope to hear from some people - either already living there, or people who are also moving there soon. Thanks!

Welcome! My husband is at Red Cloud and I just got back from visiting him at Yongsan! There's a great group of spouses stationed at Korea here and on cinchouse.com - definitely check it out! You might consider joining the Armed Forces Spouses Club, as I know they have a hiking group!

I'm also an AF spouse. No kids, but constantly have a service dog in tow. BTW, I LOVE to shop. Hit up my e-mail if you want to talk.

Re: Spouse coming to Yongsan will need friends!

Hi and welcome. I think there are more wives in Yongsan with kids than not but I do know a couple of childless couples here and there. Most of them live off base, though. One of the AF guys my husband works with, he and his wife have no kids. I have kids that are in school all day and we live in Hannam Village which is part of Yongsan but located roughly 2 miles from the main base.
And shopping is a major sport here so you will love it!
Do you know where your dh will be working? My husband is Navy but he works for USFK J64. The Army and Navy are absolutely two different entities and he's so stressed sometimes, LOL! Poor guy, I swear it seems everything is bassakwards to us but that's because we are so out of our element!

Re: Spouse coming to Yongsan will need friends!

Thanks to the people who responded! Not really sure where my husband will be working, other than knowing his new job will be "Chief of Transportation". It looks like we'll be living in one of the townhomes at South Post. Many couples/wives get together for playdates with their children, so it is hard for us to fit in sometimes, being childless, lol. I do look forward to the shopping, hiking, and we will be joining the Yongsan Motorcycle Club. I hope to meet some of you when I arrive!
