Greetings!
Hello all! Texans currently stationed in New Jersey and found out at end of last year that husband was being sent to Osan. Currently trying to get command sponsored and trying to figure out that process. I am half Korean and excited to experience this new adventure and learn more about my culture. First time mom to a beautiful 4.5 month old! I have already read many posts and am anxious to learn more. Very grateful to y'all for the information and advice within the forum and looking forward to learning more.

Re: Greetings!
Hi and welcome! Where in Texas are you from? I grew up near Ft. Worth in Keller, TX. My dad was from New Jersey, been there a few times. People always laughed at my accent when I was a kid. I don't have that much of a Texas accent anymore.

Re: Greetings!
Husbands RNL is early September so I imagine baby and I will arrive in October.
I am from San Antonio, Texas and we just recently returned from a vacation there. Definitely miss the mexican food. Had to buy duffel bag to hold all the tortillas that I had to bring back for ourselves and friends. Does anyone know how command sponsored requests work? How long they take to get approved/disapproved, what they are looking for? |

Re: Greetings!
Welcome to the site, glad you found us!
Good luck on the command sponsorship, I really should find out what my husband had to file to get ours. If not there are plenty of people that come over non-command sponsored. I don't know the exact forms that he filed, however I know we had to get medical clearance, vaccinations and of course the no-fee passport and A-3 visa. |

I had to get one for my 3 year old. I'm pretty sure ALL dependents have to get them.. Not that bad though, you can send off his application along with yours. |

Re: Greetings!
HEHEHE! We have had to resort to making our own salsa since we cannot find any good mexican restaurants here. And since we cannot find any good Texas BBQ out here, my husband is gonna make some smoked brisket this weekend. Every BBQ place out here thinks if you smother meat with loads of BBQ sauce you can say its authentic Texas BBQ. ![]() |
