How can I contact Osan from a cell phone?
I made a post below about joining the aero club for flight lessons at Osan, but am having a hard time contacting anyone by cell phone. I know the phone number is 784-4424
I have tried both of these methods which I've gotten from the OsanGuide website and from someone else: Also, to reach Osan AB from other cities in Korea dial 0333-661 (784 prefixes) or 0333-660 (783 prefixes). To call Osan AB from a commercial phone in the US dial 011-82-333-660 or 661-XXXX. To dial 784-4424 from downtown korea, dial 0505-784-4424.There will be no dial tone after 0505, so wait; longer than you want to wait-then it may ring. However, neither method works. Any advice? |

I just tried all sorts of ways from my cell...can't seem to figure it out.
However, I got a workaround for you: From your cell phone dial 0505-738-2233 or 02-7918-2233, then you'll get another dial tone. Dial 8, 784-XXXX. Good luck! |

BTW. I just talked to the receptionist at the Aero Club.
from a cell phone 031-661-4424 works just fine. Anyhow, she stated non DOD civilians or contractors were not allowed to take flight lessons with the Aero Club.. Sorry :-\ So it's a moot point trying to get a hold of them anyhow. I asked if there were any local national flying centers to obtain a flying license and she said there were none that she knew of. I vaguely remember reading about this somewhere, that all pilots in Korea were either trained in the ROK Air Force or they went to flight school in FL/AZ. Hope that clears things up for you. |

I just spoke to the receptionist today, and he confirmed that it is not possible to join, because I don't have base access. I am going to try and contact the Civil Air Patrol in the States, and see if any of them would give me a membership. I am in contact with an air force colonel who is willing to help me find a backdoor so I can join. I'm not going to give up yet...

0505 only works for Army instalations in Korea. In fact they have a commercial on AFN radio about it.
